The Assassin’s Creed....

FWIW
Leupold warrantied my bent tube and dented objective. I didn't need to send emails or send it across the ocean. But it did take 10 days.

Better deal than I got. About 10 years ago I sent a Leupold to Korth with a dented objective and they said they wouldn't warranty "abuse" but they fixed it for a fee.

That gives me a bit of hope. I have an Leupold with a dented objective but I just put a scope cover on it.

I use fixed power Leupolds with non adjustable turrets. That way, when I can’t spin them they are guaranteed to track reliably. No warranty in the world has been able to top that.

They seem very durable but when a massive 500 lb steel object gets slammed into the turret while the rifle is held securely in place, something is going to give.

For the record I’ve also had leupold and vortex turrets come off, but in a much more traditional firearms usage manner.

To SWFAs credit, they said they would warranty it, whereas Leupolds warranty wouldn’t cover something like that.
Figured there had to be a bit of a story there. ;)

They aren't my fav hunting scope, due to the turret knob design, but are a tough scope. We were crossing a partially frozen river, last Nov, and my youngest had a bad pileup. Without getting into too many details (we had several long talks about firearms handling after the incident), I turned around just in time to see him falling into the river- his rifle airborne, then landing scope/turrets first on the ice covered rocks. It clattered around on the rocks for a ways. Seeing all that, I figured something would be ruined for sure. Rifle, scope, my kid... zero check at camp required 0.2 Mil Left correction.

That was probably an error in initial sight in. Lol!

The thing that blew my mind about the first really repeatable tracking scopes I purchased (swfa and LRHS) was how easy zeroing was.

I had an swfa and LRHS, a leupold 2-7 and 3.5-10 CDS at the range two days ago.

Both the SS and the Lrhs were zeroed perfectly in 2 shots....just fire one at paper, use the reticle as a ruler and make the adjustments, no messing around.

Both the leupolds took much more effort. Granted they don’t have graduated reticles so I was measuring with the 1” grid on the targets. They took 6-7 shots each, while having to do the shuffle (adjusting past, then back again) to finally get them where I wanted.

It’s just so easy it’s hard to look past it. I must say I haven’t had a leupold lose zero in the field. I have had to send several back for canted or broken reticles, weird adjustments, frozen power adjustment rings, and one erector that just spun and spun without doing anything (korth sent me a whole new scope for that one). Like buckmastr says though, korth is great and I had the scopes back in a week. Just wish I never had to send them in the first place.

I have had to get more Leupolds repaired than any other scope brand. I own more Leupolds than any other scope brand so that is also a factor. Broken seals, broken reticles, tubes coming apart, turret coming off, won't hold zero...All of these problems and more have happened to Leupolds I own.

Took it out tonight to see if the cheap scope works in the cold. Dial up 5.5 Mils. Shoot. Yep it works. Try a half dozen more to see if that was a fluke. Nope. No fluke. :)

That was one of my first impressions also. I burn a lot less ammo zeroing and zero checking these days. Leaves more time for fluke shooting... ;)
