How short would I have to cut a 300 RUM barrel to drop it to deer stand velocity?

I used a 338 lapua with 18" barrel this year for dear, no issue with velocity

That is just freakin hilarious, now isn't it? I lost most of the hearing in my left ear because some azzclown thought it would be funny to discharge a 308 with the muzzle even with my ear. Didn't have a chance to cover my ear because he was behind me.

That's just pure idiocy. I can't believe someone that either took a firearms course (or didn't and has been shooting for decades) would think that's a good idea. Tinnitus isn't a hot thing to get either. Safety issues aside; I'd be tempted to return the favour right then and there!

Take it for what it's worth; but I think I'd find an excuse to hunt someplace else if someone thought it was funny to bring an obnoxiously loud rifle like that into a blind. Especially if they made it more so.
