The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

Not sure if this will be of any use to you but Red Deer Shooting Centre carries Timney and CMC PCC triggers. I got my CMC 3.5lbs flat blade trigger from them and I believe they had either the curved or flat blade Timney version a well. Best of luck!

I upgraded to the CMC PCC as well not the flat blade one the curved also from Red Deer Shooting Center. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet unfortunately, any issues with yours ? I know Freedom says they don't reccomend an aftermarket trigger.

Mine has been flawless for the roughly 700 rounds I’ve put through the gun since the upgrade. Much nicer trigger than the factory one I have to say. I have a feeling Freedom Ordnance recommends against changing the trigger because standard AR-15 triggers don’t have the same amount of sear engagement as PCC triggers and can accidentally drop the hammer under the harsh recoil. I’d say as long as you’re using a trigger designed for a PCC you should be fine. My only caveat to that is after any trigger install you should do a function check and see if it’s catching normally. When you take it out for the first time load one cartridge in the mag and test the trigger reset. Do 2-3 for the next mag just in case it goes off on you.

Has any one changed out the KAK Shockwave Blade Brace on the FX-9 Pistol Version?

I would like to go to a mill spec buffer and stock.

Do I need to change out everything or just the buffer tube?

I've ran about 300 rounds of Fiocchi 124gr through mine since I put my CMC PCC curved-blade trigger on mine. Haven't had a problem with it at all, quite the opposite, it's been a huge improvement. Way better than the stock trigger, have not had any double taps or any malfunction. Money well spent, along with the new buffer spring and H3 buffer. Smoothed it right out, its like a new gun. Even more fun to shoot!

Hey there!
I bought my new FX-9 3 weeks ago. Put a vortex SPARC AR red dot on it and love shooting this thing! However 2 complaints. LRBHO worked well for the first 200~ rounds, second time out put another 300~ through. Would hold open but then if I put down on the bench to hard or breathed on it slam closed. Today put 400 rounds through and didn’t hold open at all? I see there is an aftermarket LRBHO, is this a common issue?
The other issue is one screw keeps backing out? Possibly related? Screw closest to the mag release.
I love this gun so hopefully easy fix.

Laying it down on the bolt release side or ejector side?

Ejector side, but the bolt no longer holds open at all.

What mags are you using with the gun? Some mags have an easier time engaging the bolt hold open than others. I have had the action close on me when I've had the bolt locked open and I've placed the gun with the ejection port facing upward but never when I've placed the ejection port facing down. I wouldn't be surprised if perhaps the culprit can be your mags if they aren't pushing up the bolt hold open enough to retain the bolt.

Glock and the SGM tactical it came with. Now it just won’t hold open at all, I have to hold the charging handle back to load a mag...

I've gone through this entire thread and I've seen people run a variety of different recoil spring/buffer setups.

Looking to swap mine out with a Strike Industries AR Carbine Flat Wire Spring and an Odin Works 9mm AR Adjustable Buffer (7.4 oz). Has anyone tried this combo before and can provide your experience on how it runs?
