Whitetail deer dummied by .416 Rigby

He took so long to shoot because he was trying to line up 2 deer.....? It seems from previous posts that he is in Nova Scotia and you don’t get two rifle tags here, so that’s be a dumb thing to admit to on a public forum, never mind the ethical issues.

I personally enjoy hunting with big bore rifles because I like them, I say have fun hunting with your .416 I’m happy to see that my .404 isn’t the only needlessly overpowered rifle in the Nova Scotia deer woods.

But there are too many people working hard to show the public that hunters are conservationists and ethical users of our wildlife resources, so if you’re going to try for a probably illegal and certainly unethical two deer with one shot, for the sake of the rest of us please don’t go around bragging about it on public forums.

I'm not bothered by 2 deer at once. If one was right behind the other the right way, it would work fine. Lots of HP to do it.

Not sure why anyone would "have to see it"; big tough bullet going at a moderate speed kills a lot less dramatically than a more frangible bullet. I imagine the bank behind the deer got penetrated pretty good though.

I'm not going to brag about my own shooting, but an experienced shooter flinching a bullet into the high back at just over 20 yards isn't something I'd brag about online. I suspect that stowing the ego, and loading lighter will drastically improve your shooting skill and enjoyment. Personally, I'd probably do most of my shooting with a big rifle like that with cast bullets and reduced loads.

Edit: The shot took so long because I was waiting for the two of them to line up. Then took the smaller one when they weren't going to.

Doesn't hunter ed discourage shooting an animal when there is one behind it? Something about possible wounding......

If thats the case, I'm speechless. Trying to shoot two animals with one shot is questionable at the best of times, but to do so in a jurisdiction where its illegal to take two deer and then post it on the internet? Just... Wow...

Nothing wrong with using the 416 on deer...trying to line up two animals with one shot is pretty stupid though...kinda along the same lines as trying to purposely cause damage to your hunting partners hearing...another stupid move in my opinion.
