Hi,
This is by far, my best shooting ever.

5 shot group with my Marlin XT-22 at 50 yards, CCI SV, from a bench with a shooting bag for support. Oh, and a Bushnell 4x rimfire scope.

And my rifle. I'll be putting a laminate stock on it soon.

That's an excellent group. You should try the 1/2" at 50 challenge. I hope you succeed.

Thanks. That damn challenge is why I got the rifle.

But I'm far from that challenge right now. That was one out of 15 groups. Another 5 were a bit less than 1", and the rest were too poor to mention. There was a crosswind though! I swear. :p

More practice for me, thankfully.

Cheers,
Neil

Some days the wind blows ‘em into the group, sometimes out:). No doubt the potential is there for membership in “the club” ... I suspect you will find the key is to find the ammo that rifle prefers.

With the laminate stock...

Ugh. I will need a better photo taken with natural light. The flash sort of ruins the photo, and otherwise it is very grainy.

For a better chance at success with the 1/2" challenge there are a couple of things worth trying.

First, use a scope with more magnification than 4X. Of all the many successful posts, I think there's only one with a 2-7X scope and a couple more with 3-9X scopes. Second, try better ammo than CCI SV. There are only a few entries claiming success with any variety of CCI ammo.

Thanks for the advice. I've seen here that you shoot quite well. :)

I'm stubborn though. The bolt action is already an upgrade for me, and I want to see how much I can do with the simple rifle and scope that I have.

That said, I have been thinking about a Leupold 2-7x rimfire scope, but that's a ways away. Trying different ammo though is a great idea. I'll see what my range carries.

Cheers,
Neil
