I hate re-assembling my 1911!!!!!!!

Millions of GIs were taught to strip and clean the 1911 under combat conditions.

It is one of the simplest guns to maintain in that regard. I have more trouble with my M1 Garand and need to refer to the manual every time as it doesn't seem logical to me.

Yes, the Glocks clean up easier. No romance, though. It's just a tool.

But I actually enjoy field stripping & cleaning a 1911. And detail stripping & cleaning one even more.

NAA.

I actually have an easier time stripping my 1911's than disassembling my Glock. Pushing down the retainer on the sides of the frame of the Glock is for some reason a pain for me, assembly is no problem and I'll admit easier than a 1911.

My Walther P-1 gives me more stress than my 1911.

Likewise!

After first removing a 1911’s recoil spring, which is the only tricky step, if can even be called tricky, a 1911 almost field strips itself. On reassembly, the spring ang spring plug are the last two parts in.

Detail stripping is easy with no tools required unless you’re removing the grips.

Two piece FLGRs that require an Allen wrench to split, take an extra step. I see no point in this style of FLGR

I seen someone use the hook of the sear spring as a screw driver..

Yup to remove the magazine release.

As well, punch out the mainspring housing pin with the thumb safety “shaft”. Use an empty magazine as a hammer to hit the thumb safety. Not sure if a loaded magazine can safely be used this way.

My favourite uncle who was a WWII guerilla fighter, demonstrated the whole procedure to me.

We wouldn’t treat our 1911s like this today LOL

I got a MC operator, I cannot figure out where the crayon comes into play.

All I ever had trouble with is the leaf spring in the back? I always got it to the point where the hammer will not click back haha, I had to put the middle finger over the sear, not under ahha
