I wear a fair amount of camo hunting because there's a lot of decent clothes out there that are made that way. I also might wear it grocery shopping, or to the bar for the same reason. That's a long ways from thinking it makes much if any difference. In my home province we wore red, orange, yellow or white coveralls in the rifle season for most of my life and if that made any difference you couldn't tell by me.

That it doesn't hurt isn't much of an argument; wearing a Maxi-pad wouldn't hurt either.

Just because deer are colour blind does not make camo useless. Breaking up your pattern is helpful for most hunting situations. That can be done with things other than camo, but camo will never hurt your hunting. That is why plaid works well, it breaks up your body to make it blend better. Most quality outdoor hunting clothes are camo now anyway, so it gets harder to find good warm quiet clothing that isn't camo.

There is little downside to it, other than cost, but that is minor anymore since most hunting stuff is made in camo.

Certainly isn't necessary to kill animals. But again will never hurt your hunting and blending into your surroundings is a definite step up in your hunting game. There will always be exceptions, but overall you will see more game the better you can blend in. Camo can be a big part of that. Along with scent control and limiting movement.

I suppose you missed the part where I said I have no issue stalking deer to within 20-30 yards wearing head to toe blaze orange? If a bright orange patternless pumpkin can sneak that close, I strongly believe camo is useless for deer.

You may believe camo helps you see more game and that is totally fine. But, my personal experience has proven that to be false many times over.

Yes I wear camo but I could care less if it matches. Also its all I own in hunting clothing so its the reason I wear it. We are not required to wear blaze orange or any red, yellow or other bright colours in AB so I threw all my blaze stuff out after moving here. I always hated wearing that #### in Ont.

I suppose you missed the part where I said "there will always be exceptions". I never said its the only option. I too have been very close to deer wearing street clothes. I've also had them spook from a long distance in full camo.

Blending in better will only help. It certainly isn't necessary but it will help. How much nobody knows or can prove, but that doesn't make it useless.

Do what works for you, I'm not trying to convince anyone otherwise, just pointing out that "its not useless"

I think the misconception with camo is that it blends you in to the environment in regards to an animals vision. Camo blends you in to a human eye but there’s lots of studies and info that dispels the idea that camo hides you from animals. The mainstream use of Camo didn’t even appear until well into the 20th century , humans have obviously been successfully hunting since we wore loin clothes and animal skins (probably the skins are the original camo lol).
I thibk a lot of people see the camo gear as a gimmicky marketing ploy to sell gear. Which is exactly what it is , it’s designed to make a person feel ok parting with their hard earned pay check for it.
Each to their own , I have a few hunting buddies and between is we run the full gamut from walmart dickies clothing up to the big $$$ Kuiu gear. Some of my friends look like they ordered one of everything from a catalogue and some look like they just crawled out of a dumpster. We all get our tags filled though so in the end wear what you like and what you enjoy.

I wear camouflage do to the quality and ability to protect me from the weather. Yes you can purchase work attire, but I find a larger selection of clothing suited specifically for hunting. Secondly I don’t feel like I am hunting when wearing beach wear.

I did too untill i bought a blaze orange jacket. I was using cheap vests before from bass pro and theyd always get in the way. The whole jacket is just better.

Ive got full camo of various patterns, but I also have my red plaid wool coat.

deer are pretty colourblind, I have had good success wearing plaid. my camo stuff is more waterproof though.

I've bought all kinds of patterns because I only buy stuff on clearance. So because they don't match I got solid brownish green pants so I can wear whatever coat the weather requires, including a solid orange one.

I wear camo only in the bush hunting!
Not at homedepot
Not at bbq's
Not at work
Its basically like wearing your p jammas out in public if you do..same thing lol

I wear camo 'cause it pisses off the normals. Don't care if it fools deer or not. It drives vegans insane, causes empowered middle class white chicks to cry on their arts degree and makes hipster men envious for my freedom.

I have one camo hoodie that i got on sale at CT for $14.
I wear it when im doing messy work because if i get it dirty you cant see it and if i totally ruin it it was cheap. Otherwise, camo is for the bush.

Now my EDC knife on the other hand, that literally goes everywhere!!

I wear camo for duck hunting, sometimes. I have some camo gear I wear deer hunting, but only because that's the way it came. I don't feel camo helps much in this province, as I have to wear an orange vest and hat anyway.

With any sort of animal, if you're using camo to hide, I feel it's far more important to remain behind cover than to wear the latest pattern. The best pattern is hiding behind a stump or a tree or a bush or whatever.

Furthermore, most people wearing camo get caught up in the visuals, when the sound profile of your clothing is equally as important. I'd see more deer wearing a red wool sweater than a synthetic camo raincoat.

I'm not saying camo is bad, I'd wear it in deer season if it was legal, but you should never rely on it for any help. Some of the most camoed-up guys I know are terrible hunters.

If I was going to buy any pattern, I'd buy Cabelas' old Outfitter stuff. That grey-green-blah pattern was pretty universal.

I prefer to dress like a viking, this allows me to carry a sword, still hoping to get a deer with it.
