Personally, I found 16x too much for the Varmint work I was doing. I had the 10x and the 16x and sold the 16. I found the 10 to be slightly clearer than the 16. I don't know why. Better field of view also. I can't comment on the 20 as I've never looked through one. Side by side, I see little difference between my Falcon 10x and my SS10x.
I found clarity of mine to be on par with the bushnell 4200 series. Its noticably brighter that my 3200 10x and provides a sharper image. Probably due to the paralax adjustment that the 3200 lacks.
If the 20 is anything like the 10, mine is 100% repeatable. Never loses zero and has very audible and tactile clicks. Also with 128(counted the clicks guys) MOA of elevation. I can shoot waaaayyy out there without the aid of a slanted base.
The only other thing I know is that the 10x, 16x and 20x are all the same price from SWFA.

I love my Super Sniper 20X42. Simply put, it rocks. Clear glass, Built to NATO specs and the mechanics are solid. Gotta love the nitrogen filled tube and the laser etched reticle. Happy shooting. :)

It's illegal because they won't sell them to Canadians due to export restrictions imposed by the US government. As SWFA is the only retailer in North America, you can't legally buy one from here. Yes, there are all sorts of ways around that, but technically, they're illegal too. - dan

SWFA hasn't sold outside the USA since 911, even their non-tactical scopes. That said, there were a lot of SS's exported to Canada before 911 by SWFA. I know, because I bought one off them in the good old days. From time to time, one of these beauties comes up for sale here. Don't automatically assume that they are illegally imported :nest:

I have a 20x42 SS and it is a very good scope, optics are quite clear and build quality is very good BUT IMO the straight 20x is more of a hindrance than an advantage for anything other than target shooting in bright daylight. For varmint shooting I would much rather prefer the 10x model. The field of view is small making it very hard to quickly pick up a target unless it is VERY far away. Also in low light it is pretty much useless, not a fault of the SS scope but just physics. A high power scope with small objective lense is not good for low light, my Leupold 6.5-20x40 is no better than my 20x SS in low light when it is set to 20x power either. I have my SS mounted on my HK SL8 .223 and had a chance at two coyotes right at dusk about 200 yards away, well all I could see was a gray blur when I finally got on target, useless. The SS scopes are great if you can get your hands on one BUT IMO do yourself a favor and hold out for the 10x model, far more practical than the 20x or even the 16x for that matter.:)

If you read my first post, I mentioned to the gent that USED would be one of his legal options. Don't automatically assume I don't know what I'm talking about. - dan

I bought a Tasco once and it is not very good. It isn't very clear or bright and the parallax is not what it is supposed to be. I won't be buying another. I hear that the old ones made in Japan are good but the new ones aren't.

Tasco doesn't make the super sniper scopes.

Tasco doesn't actually make any scopes to the best of my knowledge, they have them assembled by various factories to a pre-determined price point/quality standard. They were the original company that sold the SS scopes, which are actually made by Hakko of Japan (which doesn't necessarily mean made IN Japan). - dan
