This dog was a puppy of a mother from a recently busted puppy mill just outside of T.O.
I'm told she was accidentally bred with another breed and would have been killed if her mommy was not rescued due to the mix up.
There were 5 pups.
She has a beautiful blue eye and a half blue/half dark brown one.
She came home with me a few hours ago and I’m already in love.

She's half Lab and half Springer Spaniel. She has no name yet.
Any suggestions are welcome.
She is 8 weeks old today and full of energy as most pups are. I'm sure with her background that she'll make a super bird dog.(with some proper training of course)

I've been looking for a companion through animal rescues for over 2 months and finally found the partner for me. It was a long wait but it sure beats most breeders and puppy mills.

By the way Ryan... Mine's cuter and can take yours any day!!;):D Nice lookin dog buddy! I love the shine her fur has. Enjoy her every day.

Mine is sleeping on my foot now. I'm hungry. I hope she gets up soon. My beer is empty too! What do i do?

Cheers
Mike

Mike,

My advice in case if the puppy falls asleep on your lap...
As a responsible dog owner you have to stock up with food and beer within arm's reach when you sit down to your computer. Limit your movements to the minimum, don't make noise by hitting the keyboard hard and unplug the phone. :D

Congratulations to the puppy. She's cute.

Ha ha! It's funny but true. lol. I think you forgot the pee bottle. It'll save us a trip to the can after the beer.;)

Can anyone recommend a good book on puppy training? I’m looking for a waterfowl slash house dog if that’s not asking too much. I'd love my new friend to come hunting for bird next year. When should i expose her to gunfire? etc

Call her Sprigs.
Looking for a 2 syllable name as i read it'd a good way to let them learn thier name. I have no ideas yet. I’ve heard Sasha from a buddy but I’m a guy with a girl dog so I’m looking for a half manly half girly name.
Gun or hunting related would be way cool.

Beautiful dog. Since she is going to be your hunting partner running through the bush for you how about the name "Twiggy" (As in a bush's twigs) or maybe "Akita" (Means Great Hunter) ?

take her for walks up around the range property so she gets used to the noise. Start from a distance and over time slowly work your way in.
I'm not near a range but i skeet shoot a lot. Would leaving her in the car with the window cracked while we shoot be the same?
I guess i could have a buddy shoot while we're across the field.
I wear ear protection always because the shotties are LOUD! Should i be worried about hurting her ears?

Still books on training a waterfowl dog are welcome.
I'm looking for a waterfowl/best buddy here.

Sorry didn't see you named her already.

BTW Mike, I see your in Scarborough also. Mind if I ask where you got her at around here?
I got her from a shelter in oshawa called "give a dog a second chance"
If you go on www.petfinder.com it'll show you most of the dogs in your area that need a home. Just fill out the info on the home page. It covers everything from non profit shelters to the humane society. There's loads of dogs that need a good home.
I visited many shelters and was almost in tears by the ammount of great dogs that were outcast or were chained to a pole in a mill somewhere before rescue.
Most have stories to go with them. The older dogs really broke my heart as there's nothing wrong with them other than the fact that they're not puppies so no one wants to take them. They were soooo friendly! (and so sad when you leave:()
When Remmy's a year old i'll be back to adopt another (older) friend.

BTW. "Twiggy" is a nick name we called this tall lankey guy in highschool. haha! It would have been a cool name but i'd remember this guy everytime i called her. Oh yea, he's huge now! Saw him at the mall a few months ago. lol go figure

Hey Mike... sorry I have not been in touch... nice pup... give me a call and I'll get you out hunting.
Try the Gunstore middle day... My cell don't work in the bush...

Way to go Mike. Rescued pets always make the best, they seem to know that you saved them ;) For a name, I suggest Milo....don't know why, I just like it.
