trying to identify a 20 mm cartridge case

Hello Gentleman, I just found a Valcartier Industry 20mm case , 97 mm long , rimless ,marked C68, straight case. Google cant help. Any ideas. G

There are some quite old 20mm cartridges that are straight walled, but most are foreign and the dimensions and reference to a Valcartier (IVI?) C68 stamp are odd.

Pics would certainly help.

Without them, I'd hazard a guess that the cartridge case has been necked up to 20mm (perhaps from 0.50 cal?) or possibly a sub calibre round.

The case is the same demensions as a 50 cal except the neck of course, so that would make sense. It also has a dye or red line about 3/4 of an inch and another about 1 3/4 inch down the inside of the case. I have six of these cases so its not a one off and the primers have been fired off. The firing pin dent is massive about 3/16 of an inch across. 37patt identifies it as a EOD disrupter round. I think that is what it is. Thanks for the replies.

I'm curious to the reference of the "massive firing pin dent" where as 37patt claims that they were electrically fired.

So I got to digging around and found something that fits your description.
Mine is aC-67 saluting cannon blank
IVI 89 . It has the same extractor grove as a 50 bmg it has a red varnish sealer over the blank charge aboute an inch from the top .
No.2
IVI C67 80 fired case .the primer strike has cratered to the formation of the bolt face and firing pin hole.
No3
IVI 06 HAS A RIMMED CASE NEW UN PRIMED.
No 4
F.N.B 82 .50 new un fired case . The primer pocket flame hole is not drilled. The extractor rim looks a lot like a rim fire ( rounded over ).
They are all the same length and dimensions ( other than thier extractor types) .
