Jeebus! I think all the Antelope saved by ranchers removing the bottom wire just got accounted for in one swoop.

Well that is certainly without a doubt the saddest thing I have seen today. Maybe someone should show those guys where the brake is, I am sure they could see that herd on the tracks a long way off, well at least long enough to have taken some preventative measures.
 
Not a lot you can do if they decided to pop into the tracks within a km or so. Hard to comment without seeing the situation unfold before the camera started rolling.
 
So where are all the outraged animal loving tree huggers ? . If some individual poaches one it sure causes an outcry ( Rightfully so) . If a farmer did this with his tractor our powers to be would probably put him in jail and throw the keys away. I know they cant stop the train , but dang this should be front page news . Now I know why a draw takes years and years .

Trains take a long time to stop. Doubt it was intentional. You can even hear the air horn being used (to no avail).
 
For those of you that know nothing. It takes over a mile to stop a train and loaded cars. There was nothing, absolutely nothing that could be done. Try and figure out how much 130 loaded cars weigh. A single engine unit weighs a half million pounds. Add all that together and tell me how you can quickly stop for an antelope. I know its sad but it was unavoidable.

Canada's Railways have always been special, John A. made them that way and nothing has changed since then. Same attitude that leaves grain on the tracks in Banff and kills bears.

They weren’t so much “hit” as were “run over”.

If the train had on of those old timey steam engine cow sweep things on the front, 90% of them probably would have rolled off to the side and survived.

This! This video was posted on fb in a few hunting groups I belonged to before leaving. The ignorance for lack of understanding how hard it is to stop a train at full speed made the anti-hunting crowd look intelligent in comparison to the hunting crowds comments.
 
Did the engineer blow the horn?- If he did I didn't hear it in the video.
I don't know about pronghorns,but deer always head for the field when I see them on the road and lean on the horn.
