I was in the local gun shop tonight and had the opportunity to handle a Nova for the first time. When I stroked the gun, the action felt plasticy and weird. I know that this gun uses a different type of action than I am use to and was looking for details on how this action works and performs. Its a Benelli so its got to be quality right? It just felt different than any other pump I have used (mostly 870).

Any info would be appreciated. As this is a potential candidate for purchase.

P.S. the guy told me that Winchester is back in business for the Defender. has anybody else heard this?

It sure does feel different than the 870s, but different does not mean anything other than different. Once you get past the look and feel, you will probably like it's sliick action. I think that it is way better than the express and at least as good as the present wingmaster and miles ahead of the Stoeger knock off. BUT pick the gun that fits and points best for you!

I see you finally got the hang of the "Quote" tags. As allways your my hero. :)

you guys are really weird:p

No it is just the other guy who is weird. I am the guy who is going to tell you that your right about the action and the Benelli Nova is different but one heck of a gun. I have no life and hang around gun stores all the time, and I have never seen one traded in. Give it a try.

I bught one for a duck gun and have found it to very reliable and quick. I find that the magazine lock feature that lets you removee the rund in the chamber without disturbing the rounds in the magazine to be very useful when a goose comes into the decoys.

I usually hunt with Model 12's but sure like my Benelli Nova. i upgraded the recoil pad and that really took the sting out of the 3 inch shells and I have not found a reason to use 3 1/2 inchers.

I like it.
