I have not fully made up my mind yet but I am thinking of getting my S&W M&P 9mm or/and the SIG P230 9mm cut for one of the small red dots, I have spotted that Black Box Customs does this kind of work and I was wondering who else does the work and who does the best work. Also if there is anyone good in Ontario that would be a plus as they would be closer to me.
I know that there is the option of getting a mounting plate that replaces the rear sight but I do like the idea of having the red dot mounted lower with backup open sights just incase something happens to the red dot.

I just got my P226 back from Auscan Tactical, also located in ON. Prices were reasonable and they don't force you to cerakote the slide afterwards like BBC does.

Tacord did my M&P slide cut for a Vortex Venom. Compared to my M&P CORE as well, the red dot was substantially lower on the slide cut version. The work was fantastic with a quick turnaround time.

Hey I was hoping to piggy back off the original question. Does anyone know of any other places out west that could do optic cuts and slide work? BC, Alberta, really anywhere. Options are always nice. BBC has a great crew of guys but they primarily deal with glocks. I am looking for a outfit that can do Sig. Thanks everyone.

I was in the same boat as you, looking for a BC / AB based gunsmith and didn't have much luck.

Bits of Pieces is a gunsmith shop in BC, but I don't think they do pistol slide milling for optics. They seem more focused on long gun type work.
DLASK can do milling, but only on Glocks. I asked if they'd do my Sig and they said not at this time.
RPM Precision is in BC, and I have seen their work on Sig P320s, but they didn't get back to me when I emailed them. You might have better luck if you call them directly.
WestTech / Westtec firearms used to be around for that kind of work but they seem to have gone out of business.
Tac Ord in ON does great work, but apparently isn't set up for milling Sigs right now.
Red Tower Armoury used to post about milling work but it seems like they only handle Cerakote jobs now. Either way they never replied to my emails.
Black Box Customs in AB seems like the heavy hitters. They do really nice work, but their prices are high. If nobody else can do it, I'd wager BBC can - just be prepared to pay for it.

Finally, Auscan Tactical in Ontario handled my Sig P226 slide milling at a reasonable price and fast turnaround. Even with the shipping delay it was probably faster than trying to find a shop in BC that can do the work.
