Project to buy new pistols for Canadian Forces is once again underway

Procurement has been broken for a very very long time. It doesn't get any better when politicians muddy up the process even further by insisting on industrial offsets, or "build it in Canada-itis" instead of just sourcing the best item for the job at the best price for the taxpayer. Military procurement projects are already expensive as hell and take years to complete. Why we have to add additional delays to things when it doesn't make sense is frankly beyond me.

Let's buy Canadian when it makes sense to do so - some small arms (rifles, LMGs, long range precision rifles) ought to be made here because we have world-class manufacturers that can step up to the plate. Shipbuilding is proving to be a headache. I understand wanting to keep domestic manufacturing capability alive, but is it worth doing so if it incurs extra delays and cost overruns instead of having our ships built in the UK or Poland or South Korea? I'm being a little facetious here but I'd rather have 10 ships built in South Korea over 6 ships built in Canada for the same cost. It's all kind of a moot point anyway since the government doesn't see fit to fund the military to the levels required in the first place. It's enough to make you pull out your remaining hair.

Jeez, never bothered to google Canadian Forces Pistol, or read the article on the first page that told you? That like asking what rifle are they using? No, they're going to the smelter.

"They're going to the smelter.".......after a picture is taken and released (leaked) in an article (after the next gun grab) as a reference to the untrained eye of how effective banning guns has been and how many have been removed from Canadian society by the LIbs!...it will be considered by CBC as a WIN for both sides!
