A ruger MK is a good choice.

If you/she really wants to give it a feminin look, she could just get a set of grips for it. Won't hit the resale value, if she wants to keep it but get bored of the girly look it won't be hard to retrofit and it leaves more money for ammo (not that 22lr is really expensive but still...).

FWIW the S&W SW22 Victory is awesome for the price (In stock at Tenda for $480, unfortunately Bullseye North had a one day sale for 380 but they are gone). Out of the box they shoot great.

I just sold my mk IV lite. Great gun, I'd highly recommend it

The issue with most 'purple pistols' is they are built as ladies purse guns and are too short to be restricted.

O god that would be ugly, but I am a old fart, I would suggest, for a new shooter, buy a used Ruger, Smith, and let her run it for a while and see how she likes it.
