Interested in a 1911-style pistol in 38 Special

I have a thing for the look of 1911s. Can't justify a Colt but currently have two Norincos : one in 45acp and one in 9mm.

While on Wikipedia I note that it claims that Norinco makes a "M1911A1 C, Colt M1911A1 Clone in .38 special" which got me Googling for this firearm in Canada. Marstar claims to have it in the past, but their website says it was a 45acp (see https://marstar.ca/product/norinco-model-m1911a1-c-hic/ )
.

According to this, only 38 Spl Norc made, was a revolver. I'm pretty sure the Wilki link is a typo. Because the 1911-C is a commander, and I only ever seen them in 45 ACP..

Hey everyone. Thanks for the discussion! I'm agreeing that it appears Wikipedia is wrong. Reality is, I can't afford a 1911 style 38 Special based on what's out there, and if I did get one, it would be another S&W Model 52 (sold mine for something like $1200 with a bunch of magazines), but that gun didn't do anything for me (I did not modify the magazines so it was a 5-shot. Good for Bullseye but no good for PPC or 3-gun).

To be honest, if Norinco had a $300-$400 one I'd probably pick one up just to go along with the 45acp and 9mm ones I have.

Appreciate all comments! Great source of knowledge.

BTW there is one on the switzers auction going on right now, it is ta 1200.oo, bid , It is the real deal, not some smith built one, than you have taxes and fee , and shipping , so as 25-30%
I don't think that is bad price, but the live bidding is just started , so we will see
Colt made them for 10 yrs so there will be a few out there.MK11 are rare, MK111 not so much.
P.S. auction finished , with fee the NM midrange colt went for 1380.oo fee included,
They also had a MK lV ser70 38 super , converted to 38 sp, by a Texas pistol smith 1782.50 with fee, I find that a bit much, but some stuff went for strange prices.

I've shot a colt in .38spl years ago. They exist ..

Of course they do
- Not quite as good as a M52... but at 20y, the difference is negligible
- Used it for bullseye and ISSF CF for a few years.
- It likes to be kept clean, it like a heavy roll crimp... and it doesn't like weak load

Doesn't see much use these days, but it's still a nice pistol to teach new shooters.

Please guys! Don’t mistake the ‘mark iii’ colt mid-range national match pistol -which is a Sliding Barrel Blowback system with the 38 conversions that use the normal colt locking lug structures. They are quite distinct entities. The Clark style conversions are very much more load tolerant and more accurate. The Colt is very intolerant, indeed I never saw one that shot well with anything other than the old Remington 38Match that the RCMP bought in carload quantities. Excellent collector items, but not very useful as a match gun. Of course, the favoured NRA bullseye technique is and has been for several decades, to fire both the “any centrefire”and the 45 only 900 point stages with the 45 - thus only two guns rather than three. Times change.
