Rails Rails Rails???

Its an interface system, usualy to put scopes on firearms. There is a great number of accessories that use a rail to install : bipods, lights, sights, laser and much more ! The one that we mostly speak about is the picatinny rail, a military offspring of the weaver rail, here's an article explaining it on wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picatinny_rail

Hope that helps

Rails

Okay thats great, thanks
next question
when I spoke to a dealer this week he made mention that he would install a small rail for about $250.00
my ? is, what if any is the difference between a small or big rail, and is bigger better?

I'M SO CONFUSED, I JUST WANT A NICE LEFT HANDED AR
NO FUSS NO MUSS
IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK

Why were you looking to have a rail installed if you don't know what it is or what it does? Rails aren't there to 'look cool,' they're supposed to be useful.

IMHO, the smallest rail that does what you need it to is best. Why add extra weight unnecessarily?

If you aren't planning on adding a vertical foregrip, laser, combat light, IR designator, etc...then you don't need a rail! Standard AR or M4 handguards work perfectly. I would recommend purchasing a "flattop" that has an integral picatinny rail machined into the upper that will allow you to mount a variety of different optics, carry handle or back-up iron sights. However, the standard A1 or A2 style AR-15s with fixed carry handles shoot just fine, they're just a little more inconvenient to scope. Keep that in mind when choosing your model. Good luck!

I never said I was looking to have one installed,
since the dealer mentioned it, I figured I would fined out what he was talking about.

The 2T as advertised is the same rifle as the 1R/2R, but with a low-pro rear sight and a 7" free float rail. The 2T isn't available from Stag due to a legal decision against Samson Mfg., but we can still add a rail to the 2R, which we do offer to people who inquire on 2T availability.

I don't remember anything about a big or small rail? Maybe freefloat vs drop-in? $250 would be a freefloating, railed, fore end.
