275 Rigby built for my by Chris Griesbach who gets most of the credit for it's final form. Without his patient guidance, I would have botched it.

very good taste great caliber and nice stock to sum up good taste put together .... i do not understand the hype for the brits when the 7x57 has done it all lol ...

I really like my Ruger no1 rsi in 30-06!! I
Would love to have a M77 rsi in 308 or 7x57.... one day maybe!! An other one. Would be a nice combo 7x57 16 gaude or 20 gauge would be great!!
 
I use a baikal single shot with brl cut down to 20”. Other one is a side by side and last one is a tc contender 21” brl in 4570 that weighs in 51/4# with 4x scope. Really like the 1885 and #1rsi but weight is high
 
A walking rifle in the plans. Received my defiance anTi action, defiance alloy bottom, #1 benchmark that will finish at 22”, and a old piece of Herters walnut from 1952. By this time next year, it should be a sub 6lb ###y walking rifle in 6.5 prc.






Another I’ll show, is a custom 6.5x55bjai that was built for me by my grandad when I was 7, a pleasure to pack.

I picked up this H Dumoulin full stock in 358 winchester from another forum member last year. I know it's belonged to at least one other CGN member. I was using a minox ZE5.2 1-5x24 on it but someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the scope so I'll need to replace it. I'm thinking either a minox ZX5 1-5x24 or Nikon Monarch 7 1.5-6x42 because I already have them.
I know some of you will think it's heresy but I put a picatinny rail on it so I can use QD rings and swap scopes between rifles. I like to use the 1-5x24 on my CZ550 FS in 9.3x62 as well.

pros: maneuverable, excellent calibre, good looking mannlicher stock.
cons: the hard buttplate exacerbates recoil. limited weather resistance. Haven't seen ANY game while using it.

Any thoughts about the buttplate ? Is it better to just remove the hard pad (save it obviously) and install a decelerator/limbsaver, or just get a slip-on ?

That is a hunting rifle, not a range gun. Use a slip on for finding a load and use it as-is for hunting. You won't feel a thing whilst shooting at game.

I have a bunch of CZ rifles that get hunted a fair bit, but for my taste, they are just not trim enough to be considered a "stalking rifle" per sey... the grip area is quite thick and renders the rifle less wieldy.

I almost bought that rifle... and would have if I had not just found my albatross Ruger M77-RLS Mark II .358 Carbine... it belonged to member "Rob" at one time... very nice rifle.

The .358 is not really a kicker, I think you will find that you can manage it just fine with the hard buttplate.

Stalking implies a lot of walking first, and finding a particular animal, then a stalk, then one well placed shot. To me this is the ultimate in "Stalking" rifle style ... A Krieghoff Hubertus kipplauf in .30 R Blaser. Trim and light, stylish, racy lines, accurate and functional. It followed me home from Prophet River last month. I didn't get it in time to use it in the field this fall, but next year it will do some real work.

I would agree... that is a beautiful "stalking" rifle, nice find.
 
DM that is one gorgeous rifle!! I like everything about it(maybe not the caliber that much lol)I also like when rifle have good clear stamping on barrel and receiver!! I agree with supercub 100%!!
Hoyt canon, damn you have nice guns and so many of them it must be so hard to make a choice of which one will get to go out!!
