Hiyas,

I thought I'd throw in my pics of this weeks hunt. My dad got this 7 pointer after 2 other hunters in our group slowed it down...

This was our only deer.

On the thursday morning I went out to my stand. Around 7:45 I had 2 does run behind me so I got up and waited because I thought they would be chased by a buck... to my surprise, they were being chased by 5 coyotes. Having had beagles in the past, I knew that if I had to take only one, may as well make it the first one leading the pack. After I nailed that one to the ground, they all froze and I had time to shoot 2 more before the others vanished. It was a good day for the deer in my area!

This is the male leading the pack... he must have weighed close to 45-50 pounds, I've never seen a coyote this big.

This was a first for me, the coyotes I mean... but man was that fun! My dad has lost several beagle to coyotes in the past... this time was revenge!:50cal: I will be planning a coyote hunt over the winter!

Oh and the culprit is a m700 in .308. I bought it last year after following the recommendations of none other than Mr. Bartell himself! hehehe! Great rifle.

Never seen a coyote kill a deer, but I'm sure they do it. Very smart thinking to take the front one first. I bet thoses yotes were sure howling that night!

get out there and get the last 3 lol

I had never seen them get a deer either and I was sort of sceptical but hey, now I'm a believer!!

I'd love to go back and hunt the last 2 (not 3 lol, I got 3 out of 5) but the problem is I have NO IDEA how to do it. Other than predator calls and being very lucky, how do you hunt them in a wooded area? Anyhow I still wouldn't do it, deer season is not over yet...

Nice hunt. But that coyote is topping about 35 lbs. I did a research project on them on PEI about 10 years ago and weighed hundreds of them. The largest was 45 lbs and he looked bigger than that one with the HIDE OFF. The average was 33 lbs.

Still awesome shooting to bag 3 of the buggers. You must be quick on the bolt action to do that.

Good work, had wolves all over the place this year, too bad I did not have one come into the open. Where were you hunting? Around Montreal?

Ahh that's cool, I never put it on a scale so I was just going by "feel". Good to have the imput! Thanks!
