Just got a new RDB from Tillsonberg last week.

Overall fit and finish seem fine with the price of the firearm.

Installed a Vortex scope 1-6 on it that is worth more than the rifle itself but my AR’s are now prohib so what the heck.

Gas valve was turned up to 10 clicks out from closed.

Ran all ammo I fed it which was handloads (55g Campro 26g BLC-2), some Norc ball ammo and Hornady 75g match ammo

Pmags, 10rd pistol mags and Cplus mags all worked.

Now the interesting part. My handloads which work in all my other 223 rifles keyholed fairly consistently. All other ammo did not keyhole and the Norc ball ammo shot a 5rd group at 50yds of about 2 inches.

I do know my reloaded cases have a neck tension issue and the cases probably require annealing. Could that alone cause unstable projectiles at 25yds?

I guess I am going to buy a variety of ammo and see what groups best. Barrel has a 1-7 twist.

Can anyone suggest a bulk ammo that works well in their RDB?

I would post pics but my google drive is not working here.

Haha, your the one who bought that, thought I was sneaky finding that put it in my cart then slept in it and it was gone...

Luckily I found another at an unknown dealer and it’s on the way.

I’m curious to also find out ammo pref as I don’t reload and I was about to order some Bulk SP as I have no use for FMJ as this is a predator and varmint rifle for me.

I was also gonna put my Vortex 1-6x on it but toying with splurging and getting a thermal scope for it... waiting to see if I like it though, I had a long debate over this vs a short barrel 6.5 bolt action in a McMillan style stock.

Enjoy your new rifle and I’ll be watching this thread.

Still not able to upload pics

Been a member here for many years and this is very frustrating

So, the RDB has some Lucky Irishman parts inbound, the standard bolt release and fore end.

On the range my handloads are now flying straight. That’s right, no keyholing. Very odd, its as if the barrel needed 50rds to sort itself out. Regardless, I have seen no more keyholes and will bench rest it again in the near future.

I have had the odd double when bench resting, not sure if it is me or the firearm. Besides that it functions properly and all mags are dropping free.

I am going to set up some multi gun stages this week and see how the gun performs on the move.

Which bullets was this with?

I also bought one from Tillsonburg but because I live in Alberta, Canada Post has it stuck in Stony Creek so have not received it yet.

Have you tried put in a LAR 10/10 magazine in the RDB? Wondering if its a hassle considering the height of the magazine.

Keyholes at 25m? I'd focus on the Campro bullets
- do they mic at .224?
- could they be undersized or have some other bullet diameters mixed into the lot? (I've had .40 bullets mixed in with 9mm in the past).
- You mentioned neck tension issues with brass - are you crimping the rounds if not annealing?
- how is the concentricity of the finished, loaded round?
- could there be concentricity issues (either mass or shape) with those bullets?

I've got one in bound as well and I've been wondering about the 10/10 LAR mags. Too short?

Anyone have issues with non cantaliver optics on these??? Seriously close to buying the new vortex x5 prism but I’m worried it can’t go back far enough for the eye relief.

I'm poor and trying to keep the weight down on mine, so I just have a basic Holosun HS403 on mine. I did experiment with an ACOG TA01, and they have pretty awful eye relief. Mounted far back on the optic rail, I didn't have any issues getting a good sight picture. I didn't have to strain forward and I could stay comfortably on the cheekrest. I think you'll be just fine. Pretty sure the Vortex 3x and 5x have better eye relief anyway.

Did some tests with RDB accuracy. Apparently it's a "sub-MOA" rifle, haha.

Rated from worst to best
PMC X-Tac 62gr = 3.55 MOA
My volume reload for pinking, 55gr = 2.39-2.54 MOA
Federal Fusion 62gr = 1.82 MOA
My friend's reloads with 60gr sierra = 1.57 MOA
PMC Bronze 55gr = 1.40-1.98 MOA
Federal Premuim Gold Medal Matchking 69 gr = 1.37 MOA
Hornady 5.56 Black 75gr = 0.93 MOA
