I chose the Partition/A-Frame types. I have had the most experience/success with these.
However, my second choice is bonded: Accubond, Scirocco II, Interbond, Oryx, etc. Dave.

I'm with you. Where I might choose a bonded bullet over a partition style of bullet is with cartridges having very high muzzle velocities chambered in rifles with fast twist barrels. When those two elements are brought together, the bonded bullet might have an advantage.

A Google search confirms that venison shot with bullets containing lead may contain lead fragments. Serum levels of lead in those who consume this meat are higher than those who don’t.

The shared experience of many hunters who have engaged hundreds of game animals suggests that those who shoot game with mono-metal bullets spend more time tracking wounded game, than do hunters who use lead core bullets.

Nonsense. Pure nonsense. If anyone is tracking game after hitting them with a mono metal bullet, they missed what they should have hit. And to insinuate that lead, solves that problem is also nonsense. You can fool the fans, but not the players.

I use all different types of Bullets...TSX, GMX, ELD's, Partitions, Interlock, SST, VLD's, and EOL's...etc.

Some bullets do kill quicker than others though and some bullets do penetrate more than others if that matters to you.

Some bullets work better at close range and some bullets work better at long range.

Isn't it wonderful to have options and choices for different applications? :)

As we have this debate every so often and have continuous threads on the pros and cons and opinions of different bullet construction I am thinking we need a poll to answer the question democratically. No, I'm not going to declare martial law, or have the poll machine inspected or have the mods investigate vote tampering if I don't like the answers , just an honest to goodness poll that shows what the masses prefer for a bullet choice on game.

The intended game will be deer, antelope, moose , elk , etc...............at all ranges , the one bullet style that you rely on.

NO varmint , NO dangerous game, NO large bears, NO target. That is a whole different thread.

The bullet type you would use as your over all choice to get the job done.

If you want to give a brief description as to why please do so as I think it would benefit many to hear the reasons for such choice in bullets.

You missed a choice for All of the above...:)

Actually its not nonsense. I saw another incidence of it just this week where a young bull moose was taken and the bullet failed to expand, in fact the plastic tip was still inside the nose cavity.Resized_20201214_164524(1)[1].jpgResized_20201214_164500(2)[1].jpg

Boomer. I have seen dozens and dozens of big game animals killed with various Barnes mono metal bullets. I have personally held in my hand three of those bullets that did not expand. But, those came from obviously dead animals. I have also seen lead bullets fail miserably and have seen them plucked from animals shot with them years prior. But what I have never seen, is this false narrative that mono metal bullets require excessive tracking. They don’t. Unless you can not shoot straight.

Mid weight (.30cal 165gr-180gr), fast (>2800fps) mono or a slow (<2500fps) and heavy (>220gr 38cal-45cal) soft-point. There's no denying you need speed for monos to work and they do splendidly well. With the other side of the coin being there's no denying a 18" 45-70 is far more convenient in thick brush (sub 75yd) than a 24" bean field gun.

If I had to pick one across all fronts, I'd take hot cors. I do use accubonds and TSX's for certain things, but overall cup and core when I look at what I'm loading.

Plain old boring, cup and core bullets for me.

Drive them at reasonable velocities and they work like they always have.

"a quick Google search shows..." LOL! It shows that they are spraying mind control stuff from airplanes too!

On my moose hunts, I use Barnes bullets, exclusively, for my .308 and my 300 WSM (4 moose - 3 with 168 TTSXs, 1 with a 150 TTSX). While I haven't measured how far they ran after the shot, I estimate minimum was 40 yards and maximum was 60 yards, all with boiler room shots (aiming point is straight line beginning behind fore-leg and up up 1/3rd of the body) - I can live with that. Also shot 2 deer - both DRTs as necks shots taken (which I don't advocate, but as I still-hunt, when I saw both deer they were both facing me at about 30 yards - a shot I'm very confident in making).

What I like about mono-metals is
(a) I never have be concerned about hitting heavy bone (confidence that If my shot is off, bullet will still get the job done),
(b) I pretty much get meat to the holes (I've always had two) - zero- to little bloodshot meet. last two moose, bullets passed through muscle in the opposite shoulder - my uncle uses Hornady Interlock BTSPs and those produce Dark-Blue/Back "Jelly" on similar hits..
