Howdy, is there a place in Canada that have Varget powder in stock that you know of?
Thanks

The lady who answers the phone at Higginsons told me on Thursday last week that they don't expect any new shipments of Varget, H1000, or Retumbo until late 2021. Or at all.

Her words.

The popular Hogdson powders are going to be unobtanium for the foreseeable future. (At least the 8 pounders and bulk boxed.) I understand that a very few retailers got a small amount of the single pounders in a few weeks back. You could get lucky and find some. Unfortunately, there's a lot of price gouging going on with those single pounders. I've seen some people complaining that they are going for close to $70 a pound plus shipping and taxes.

In addition to the price gouging you mentioned at the retail level, what also concerns me is that Hodgdon has consolidated with IMR & Winchester.
That can be good for longer term competition. There is less incentive for manufactures to be efficient.

Outdoor adventures in Durham had one can of powder on the shelf...guess what it was? Varget at 49 bucks 2 weeks ago. Hit the small shops you might just find it.

I switched to Vihtavuori a long time ago for this very reason of availability.
N140 or N150 will suit your needs and has always been available. Better lot to lot consistency as well.

Ok I will start searching! I’m in the Yukon and the store up here doesn’t have anything worth talking about lol!!
I have a few powder to start with when my kit shows up, but I hear really good stuff about Varget!!

What about temperature stability? I am looking for a powder that is not affected by temperatures extremes, hunting sheep and caribou in august and moose in September and October and bison eat -40c lol!!

Any of the Hogdon 'Extreme' powders are stable at large temp variations - type depends on what you are reloading:

H322, H4895, Varget, H4350, H4831SC, H1000, Retumbo, H50BMG

That is consistent with what my LGS owner told me. He got a small shipment in and sold me 2lb. Was keeping the rest to spread through other customers (good on him for that especially since it was a only couple bucks over the last couple of pounds I bought). All gone now.

IMR Enduron are supposed to be cleaner and really stable too....
But not sure of what type. My two caliber are 30-06 and 9.3x62

According to loads in the Hornady Manual

For 30-06 H4895 would work for lighter bullets and H4350 for 150 gr and up
For 9.3x62 H4895 for 250's

im not sure how current it is or was, but last year or so maybe this year, a batch of adi powder went off an ruined alooot of powder mix stuff apparently, so they took preference to international sales and we struggled for a while, an still are to some degree to find ANY adi common stuff..... 2213sc, 2209,2217,2208..etc etc
