I have this beautiful Dan Wesson (I think) 14-2. I bought it off here. Trouble is has light hammer strike and may misfire 2/6 shots. Maybe none. But I hate this. Seller kind of told me about it but it bothers me now. I have taken it apart, bought what prats I could get my hands on but have not fixed the problem. I guess the seller tried to lighten the trigger pull, or the guy he got it from. Guy is kind of a gun smith type, buys and sells some, but older and doesn't do it anymore. No names.

Anyone know someone that might be able to fix this?

I'll post a photo of the gun for the fun of it.

That’s probably an easy fix. Wolff spring kit and your done. They ship to Canada.

The Dan Wesson actions are a delight to work on.

I see no markings on it. Under grip?

It’s a 15-2HV. The 14’s didn’t have adjustable sights and the -2 is for that type of shroud on the barrel. The -1 was what’s referred to the “pork chop” style. The H is for full underlug and the V is for the venting.

15-2HV

I think I read about it in this pamphlet.

Check out the dan wesson forum, there is info on light primer strikes and how to fix it, lots of good info on there for us dan wesson wheel gun owners. I had this happen to my palmer 15-2 and it was a broken connector between the hammer and firing pin. The forum mention excessive cylinder end play\shake as a culprit. I've used Numrich as a parts source in the past and some parts are still available. Nice looking wesson and good luck.

DA? SA? old reloaded or new brass? Longitudinal cylinder play?

Maybe a short firing pin or one with a strong spring.

Some of these are deliberately tuned to a delightfully easy trigger pull, but then they won't reliably set off harder primers. Federal small pistol primers have the reputation of being the easiest to set off with a gentle hammer tap and are all that some of us will use with our competition revolver reloads. Definitely the first thing I'd try with a new revolver that wasn't reliably setting off regular ammo.

Sounds like you may have to wait until Wolff starts shipping again. You may be able to get a little more life out of the stock ones if you remove them and try to stretch them. You can sometimes use needlenose pliers slipped between the coils to force the gap open and increase the pull. At this point you don't have anything to loose.

I'm going to take the three guns out and try different ammo. I have a couple kinds of factory and some hand loads to try. Could be the 15-2 just didn't like the ammo I had, I think it was factory ammo that miss fired. Not sure though. I wasn't shooting the gun so it could have been held loose as well. I let the range manager shoot my guns, sorta a payback for all the work he does at the range.
