Lawton Actions

If you happen to hear anything about the problems they are having with their products it would be good to know. Folks down in the USA are experiencing some issues, but maybe they are just problems that are typical for a growing company..

Blue Mountain Sports are suppose to be bringing these in. I've been patiently waiting as I was strongly considering one of the Lawton 8000 Series actions.

Since Robertson Composites are bringing in Stiller actions, I'll probably buy one of those instead. I've already got one Stiller on order and may purchase a TAC 338 action depending on how pleased I am with the first.

2bad2u2, please advise how the .338LM is going. Also intersted in all Stiller feedback. The Rem 700 v. custom/clone debate has been going on for many years. The consensus of top shooters is that custom is the better investment. For extreme accuaracy(BR) see what actions are used to win.

Hi Peter,

I bought the SA Stiller first and will get Sam to do the work for me. Haven't decided on cartridge yet, but I might be putting my Rock .308 Win barrel on it. I'm looking very hard at the 6.5x47mm Lapua as well. Have you had a chance to play with your's yet? How's the Gailard barrel working out for you? If I go 6.5mm I'm definitely buying one of his barrels.

The .338LM project is between a custom and a TRG-42. I think I'd prefer the Sako but the jury is still out. Custom wise, I want the Lawton action but want one of his barrels even more. If I can't locate one of his actions providing it and the Stiller are close in costs. Otherwise, it'll be a Stiller or TRG-42.

I would have done the .338LM first (before the .338LM) but I'm holding back until I can locate a suitable place or range to shoot it at. I'm not fussy about putting that kind of coin in a rifle where I'm greatly limited where/when/how I can use it.

Peter, any suggestions?
