Old registration certificates

I would bet that people who had any of the now prohibited guns such as the M14 registered to them will be getting a phone call looking for that firearm with that serial number if the person you sold it to decides to keep it.

This has already happened to a friend of mine who sold a PTRD to a guy on buy and sell. The firearm was confiscated at an airport trying to get it out of country and they had no one to arrest and showed up at my buddy’s house saying he was the one who registered it.

They wanted to know who he sold it to. He gave a description of the fellow but had no exchange of information(PAL)

Charges were not laid on him as it is not a requirement to keep anyone’s info as he is not a business.

What I found disturbing was that they still had the record of last ownership and came to him. I understood the records to be destroyed. They are not.

Some people here believe that the LGR was deleted... the Government, regardless of their political allegiance, never delete informations, never...

Not with the millions it cost to gather the data. I gotta feelin' people will be going to jail or spend their life's savings staying out of it, because of it.

An interesting thing that I did back during the days of the registery was to request a print out of everything..
Well worth it, still have it.
I am certain there are a few levels of Government who have it
Indian and Northern Affairs for one

The LGR data (if kept) is almost 9 years out of date. The data back when it was fully operational was riddled with inaccuracies and incomplete. Many people didn't register all their firearms and some didn't register any. The number of firearms that has been bought, sold, traded or given in the last 9 years probably number in the hundreds of thousands, maybe more. Any retained data from 9 years ago is garbage. If you have or had a firearm license, the government knows who you are and where to find you. They don't need to use long out of date and woefully inaccurate historical information.
