350 rigby

I've always liked the cartridge, but if I were going to go for one I think I'd hunt down an original Rigby. I fell onto the 9.3mm bandwagon by happenstance, so the .350 Rigby dreams went on the back burner.
The Newton or the Rigby? The Rigby can be made from .375 H&H brass. Case capacity of the .350 Rigby is within a few grains of the .358 Norma, but factory ammo was loaded like a mild .35 Whelen.
I built a .358/375 Ruger... if you want a .35 cal at that power level with a more modern case and readily available brass and dies, you might want to consider one. It is a cracker cartridge, I am loading the 225 Accubond @ 3100 fps... approaching 5K in energy. It will handle any job you would care to throw at it.
like the idea of the rigby mainly for nostalgia/cool factor. power wise, it looks like the 350 rem mag easily duplicates it, especially with TAC powder. good enough for me. i hope this TAC shoots good in my rifle, i like the idea of a low pressure round. 225 grains at 2650 fps or so seems plenty good, with low recoil to boot! i won't lie though, if i came across a nice deal on a 358 norma brno, i would have to give that a try.
That article ought to give the 35 Whelen owners something to smile about. Taylor's comment at the end, that the 35 Rigby is as effective as the 375 H&H out to 150 yards, means that the Whelen is as well, since it easily matches velocity of the factory Rigby round.
We already know the 9.3X62 is a 375 with five in the magazine, and the Whelen is not far behind.
