Which is better? Stevens 200 or t3?

Why compare a low budget $320 gun too a $670+ gun? You can get a
Savage American classic 114 for $670

haha i just went to wholesale sports. Wanted to hold a stevens since im interested in buying one. OMG it makes my daisy bb gun look well built haha. That stock is scary! (grey synthetic). It wasnt even straight! The gun truly feels like a crappy airsoft replica. The bolt had more play than my No.1 Mk.3. But for 1/2 the price of some of the other rifles, and the reputation it seems to carry.. id probably think about buying it.

By far the worst feeling/looking rifle i have ever held. haha.

Alas, we have a perfectly good hunting gun that's garbage because it's ugly.:jerkit:

I did say I would still consider buying one because the reputaion of these rifles is good. But it was more than looks. The stock was not parrallel with the barrel. The bolt was sloppy and wiggled more than just a few mm's. Just sayin it isnt a well finished rifle. Still, from what I have read, its a great shooter and a good foundation for a project rifle. IMO i would use it.. but i would probably get rid of that stock asap.

Compare the 11FCNS to the Tikka 3 not the Stevens.

The accutrigger will equal or better the Tikkas. The accutrigger is arguably safer.

Both have pretty flexy stocks but are very functional. Bolt lift on the Tikka is better but the Savage can be smoothed to work very well. Both are accurate. Both have center feed d mags. The Savage is a very solid steel vs plastic in the T3. Savage mags are way cheaper then the T3 should you need spares. The Savage mag will hold a 3.00" OAL cartridge so wildcats can work.

similar in size, similar in weight. Cost is at least $100 LESS for the Savage. If you want to modify in the future, super easy with the Savage, not so with the Tikka.

I say advantage Savage. However, if you want a factory 6.5 of any kind, get a Tikka.

Dumb question but...why don't they make the 11FCNS in .223?

That just happens to be my all time unhappiness with Savage. The center feed lips cannot work with a case diameter that small and there is no interest in modifying to work. Been there and written the letters/sent the emails.

I can only hope that the aftermarket will see their error and step up. I am also hopeful to see 10rd and higher cap mags coming soon as this is such a nice design.

Stock maker like HS and McM have stepped up for this line of mags. With useage in the tactical arena, it will only be time before large cap mags are produced.

But not in 223.......I hope I am wrong.

I had a 10FP in .223 and my biggest complaint was the internal box mag. Nice gun otherwise. I now have a T3 Lite Stainless in .223 and really like it.

yeah yeah the Tikka is a nice accurate gun but compare this (current SIR prices):

Tikka T3 Lite Stainless: $770
Tikka Optilock Base, Stainless: $82
Tikka Optilock Rings, Stainless: $119 (hahaha)

Total: $971
(HAAAAHHHAAHAHA)

Ruger M77 Hawkeye: $732
Ruger stainless bases: $0
Ruger stainless rings: $0

Total: $732, and twice the rifle the Tikka ever will be, sorry.

A little off topic for the Tikka vs. Stevens 200 debate, but a great illustration. A Hawkeye for less than a Tikka? It'd be a no-brainer if it were my money... Ruger baby!!

Back to the 200 vs. Tikka... Admittedly, I'm not a Tikka fan. but I'd definitely go for the 200. The 200 may be a little rough around the edges (most of which can be tuned up)... but a true bargain. Hide the gun and throw some targets on the table - no one would say cheap gun then!

That is a very good comparison indeed Baron. I've like Tikka rifles, up and until the T3. M55's, M65's and M595's and M695's I like, T3's?....not. But heh, that's just me. I really enjoy doing stuff with the 200's, nice little project guns that respond very well to minor mods.
