Hello,

So I have taken plunge into pistol red dots. I installed a dovetail adopter and Deltapoint pro, and liking it, but the dot sits high. I was looking at getting my slide milled. Has anyone had the slide milled on an sp-01 and where can it be done?. Not looking at purchasing an mos pistol at this point.

Thx

It basically can't be done as a direct mount reasonably due to lack of material. I've seen one RMR done on a CZ75 but it was very strange as it wasn't parallel to the bore axis, it was slightly nose down. There are cuts that then accept a plate, but you're back where you started for height over bore axis more or less.

Lol.
The reason it looks nose down on the slide on a CZ 75 is to make it parallel to the bore axis. If you make the cut parallel to the bottom of the slide you risk being outside the adjustment range of the optic. It's supposed to look nose down on these guns. The CZ has lots of material available to get a nice low optic mount.

Plain SP-01 or SP-01 Shadow? I don’t know if those two can be milled to the same depth or not. Here’s my Shadow:

I was at the range Monday morning, shooting my rifle. Then the steel at 100 yards called to me. Took the Shadow, and first shot, hit the steel. I’m loving the dot.

Now I have a choice to make , mill down the G34 or go all in and mill down the Shadow. Decisions , decisions. Whaddya think jimbo14 ? If I’m going for the full advantage it might as well be the Shadow eh ?

Nice looking set up, I have an sp-01 shadow line, who did the work?

Can you even find the Shadow? The poor thing gets no love! lol!

That cut looks deep, it also looks like that plate and slide are notched and mated. Are the screws placed to attach the plate where the notch is, so the the slide could be cut deep and leave enough meat where the notch is to thread the screws?

I wanted a deep cut.

Can't remember exactly, but I don't think the screw holes are where the notch is. The optic is loctited down, so I'm not going to pull it to look. Sorry. :)

Thx agian, yes Im thinking the deeper the better as well, another question if you don’t mind, does the cut go over the the ejector pin, were there any mods required for the ejector pin?

Yes, the pin needs to be cut down. Send it along if you choose to do it.

The dot sits nicely low for me, and sits on top of my FSP if I sight along the dot body. My FSP is slightly taller than stock to match my old adjustable RSP:

Accuracy with a dot is awesome. 10 shots at 10 yds:

I can’t do that with irons.

Awesome shooting, thx again.

Just got my slide from Joe, pretty happy so far. Got him to to fab a custom plate to re attach my iron if I want. It defiantly easier pick up the dot, with a deep cut and direct mount, as opposed to the dovetail plate. Thx for the head up about Joe, we’ll see how she functions when get a chance to head out.

Excellent! Mine is still awesome. I put in a new flat trigger recently, and did extensive draw practice to see how that felt. The dot was always at, or really close to where I wanted it to be. Having that low optic feels great. It's all up to me now.

Nice, I did put in some reduced springs, and the trigger is a bit lighter, I have a comp hammer for it but have not got around to installing it yet. I was looking at putting in a taller font night sight but can’t seem to find any. Dang that customization rabbit hole, lol.

That customization rabbit hole gets deep. lol!
I saw a pic of your fancy rear sight plate today. Nice! I might need Joe to make one for me. You need an adjustable rear sight post for that because it'll work with your taller FSP if you find one you like. :) I have an adjustable RSP like the S2 (screw for elevation, drift for windage), and it works with both the 7.0mm and 7.5mm FSP.

Do you got a photo of the custom plate to re attach your iron sight?
