Ruger or Tikka

I have had two T3X CTR stainless 20" in 308, also have two 6.5 CM. The CTR's in 308 are both incredible. Accuracy was equal with both as well as MV just about exactly the same. Most accurate and reliably accurate factory rifles I ever had. If one keeps the shots under 400m I think the 308 is the better choice over the 6.5CM. I have taken deer to a little over 500m with the CTR 308 and one does notice it's running out of steam then. BTW, my T3's are all in aftermarket carbon stocks.

The ruger American I had was almost impossible to feed a round in the chamber of unless you literally slipped it in the chamber, and the rotary mag was an infuriating piece of #### to put it nicely.

Shot and handled alright but overpriced I think

I'd say Tikka for sure. Just bought my second one this past summer, but have only (varmint) hunted with my T3x Varmint, .204 Ruger. I've shot a CTR in both .308 and .223, and both were incredible guns. In fact, I thought I was done with .223 when I got my .204...but a buddy bought a CTR in 223 and I've had a few opportunities to shoot it. Like my 204 Varmint, this CTR will cloverleaf @ 100 yards using factory ammo. SO easy and cheap to upgrade the trigger spring on these guns too.

I've become a huge Tikka fan in recent years, and my next rifle will also be a Tikka. That damned CTR in .223! lol

Tikka tikka tikka.
Ruger American shoots good, poor finish, garbage magazine. On the second mag, and it sucks too.
Never had an issue with Tikka, they feed fast and buttery smooth. So smooth you might want to put some tikka on your popcorn... yes... that smooth.

Look at savage axis in 6.5 CM very cheap and very accurate - find an non-accutrigger one then spend $30.00 for a trigger kit and you will be smiling each time you pull the trigger because you have an extra $500 to buy ammo

Opinions are always VERY split with the axis, and with covid I can't go handle it, Might throw it in there tho

I had a ruger m77 scout, it was a beautiful rifle and deadly accurate with iron sights. The action wasn’t that smooth, and was a bit clunky. Never let me down though. That being said I have 3 tikkas.... tikka action and accuracy is fantastic. Im also a Bit of a trigger snob, I’ve found no reason to upgrade tikkas triggers after adjusting them down to around 2 lbs. the first expensive rifle I purchased was a RPR and I really loved that rifle. But a CTR in and MDT chassis makes for a better rifle.
