Action sticking / pressure issue

Hi,

Looking for a little help for some of the veteran CGN. My 6.5 creedmoor has developed pressure signs. The load started fine and was set up by the custom gun builder that built this rifle. Everything I read is back off the load. I’m not sure how or why it slowly developed over time. Now I’m at the point I’ve stopped shooting this load because the action will not open. Some of the brass has light ejector marks (very light) and the others don’t.

Load :

Lapua Brass
CCI BR-4 primers
39 grains H4350
Berger 140 grain VLD target
OAL 2.8

Any pointers will help.
 
Keeping it simple have you shot any factory ammo lately.

That load of yours shouldn’t be hot at all.
 
Its still all brand new brass. I spot checked a few when I got the Lot and from what I found was to be fine.
 
How many rounds through the barrel?

How often do you clean the barrel?

Have you changed lot numbers of powder?

Has the ambient temperature when shooting changed since you developed the load?
 
Round count is just shy of 400

Barrel gets cleaned every 50 shots

The lot did change, I went through a ladder test when I did. (.2) grain increments

The ambient temp would be different from development. It got done spring and I shot yseterday and it was just above zero. So I would say at least 10 degree change , if not a little more.

The Barnes CR 10 is great for copper removal but generally won't do much for carbon fouling. The carbon and copper are laid down like layers of an onion with carbon over copper over carbon over copper etc. You must alternate copper cleaner with carbon cleaner as you clean.

A bronze brush works but be aware that your copper solvent will eat it and leave blue streaks on your patches.
 
My 6mm BR Norma developed the same type of condition that you mention. What took place in my case was a carbon ring formed in the throat of the chamber. Used some Bore tech Elaminator and Carbon remover, along with elbow grease and removed the carbon ring. After that all went back to normal(pressure & accuracy).
