Using Reoader 22 with 168 gr ttsx outa my 300 wm

Is there a better powder suited that may give me less velocity spread. I am showing sometimes > eg. 3135 to 3190 all with the same loads.
Thers shooting sub moa at 100 but I know they wont be that great at long range.
Maybe I have something else going on.

From what I have read and experienced, Alliant Reloder #26 has proven to be the most stable temperature powder. This would be a great start from standard to magnum cartridges, however, this is one component of four which requires consistency for low ES. Hand loaders cannot physically manipulate the primer, powder or bullet, however the brass case we can. Having a good quality case which has been weight sorted, turned and reamed necks, trimmed to exact same length, will improve accuracy and reduce extreme spreads.

Proper annealing and neck tension is probably one of the biggest factors here. Temp stable powder has zero to do with ES in my experience.

There are many possible explanations for your ES (which is not that extreme actually) so you may well spend a lot of time working on solving a problem that isn't that severe. Sub MOA accuracy is obviously possible with that load as you proved, so maybe before you spend hours and dollars trying to fix what you think will be an issue at longer ranges, shoot it at longer ranges and see what issues you actually have, if any.

If it was my rifle, and shooting good groups with that load, I would try to improve ignition:

Switch to a hotter primer.

Increase neck tension. (remove the decapper pin and resize the neck.)

OK will give it a go , keeping it inside 600.
Thanks.

How far will you shoot that load in the field, 500 yards? An extreme spread of 55 fps will result in a vertical gap of 1.4 inches at 500y

Just a reloader "Joe" here but here it is:
1) are you using an electronic scale to measure powder? they are known to drift .03 grains depending on type
2) neck tension / wall thickness do the bullets feel the same when you insert them (ie same amount of force/pressure)
3) are the cases the same length?

Annealing is apparently the latest solution. For everything.

So true!!!!
I started reloading many decades ago. I managed to shoot some pretty impressive groups back in
the day without annealing any necks. When I think of some of the rules we broke back then, it's a
miracle we could hit anything, let alone shoot decent groups.
