CNA barrels any good?

I have a CNA barrel on my now prohib mk18 clone and I have nothing bad to say about it. Works as expected of a 10.5" barrel. I’m up to close to 6k rounds thru it, bore is still good and the riflings are sharp.

I had a couple, on a stag 10 (.308) and an MS(6.5 Grendel).
Both shot just under MOA with my hand loads.
I'd buy another.

I’ve been reading that Federal’s brass is pretty chintzy, but if it shoots ok and you’re not a high volume shooter, why deviate? I’m probably going to try the Nosler 120 BT’s after running some Hornady factory stuff.

Just like any new rifle/barrel, it’s a matter of finding a bullet it likes and going from there. Not sure what your mag situation is like but if you find yourself in a bind, 7.62x39 LAR mags work. Couldn’t find grendel mags when I got mine together so that’s what I’ve been using with no issues.

I bought a single 7.62x39 LAR pistol mag, just to see how it's going to feed. I don't imagine Grendel mags are easy to come by, and probably won't be for quite awhile.

I did the same, seemed to feed fine. I pulled my CNA 24" 6.5 Grendel barrel because it was a real chore to feed/eject with the Straight Pull. I can't say why exactly, tight chamber, or a slightly out of spec sizer, regardless, I don't have the proper tools to measure, but my hillbilly method leads me to believe one's a little small, or one is a little big. I don't have a proper gauge so I just load up a few min charge cartridges, fire a shot, or two and check the case stretch. The difference between sized and fired is so close I'm not very confident of the numbers, regardless there was no pressure issues, nor excessive case stretch, so it's safe in my book. My small amount of load development looked promising with 123 SST's and RL-15 (iirc). It looked like at least MOA performance, but working the action was too difficult, so it's a 223 Rem at the moment.
