2. Follow up with a written letter - Not email - with proof of delivery by Royal Mail and keep this and ask UK owner to keep this until gun is in Canada.

(before you trip prepare a photo copy of the receipient licence - in this case will be you PAL)

while you are in England - go and whack a few dozen deer , do a few days of game shooting and most important go foxing at night with silencer.
You will shoot more in a weekend the you do in a season in Canada
When you arrive in Canada just declare it.
and have an agreement letter or invoice for Canadian customs.
