That's the problem with greed it takes over your soul and eventually destroys you.In the end he lost everything the most important his credibility and reputation.He succumbed to the almighty dollar I wonder in the end if he thought the price he paid was worth it.This reminds me of the two big time collectors down the states that were caught stealing guns.Basically these two old guys would would travel the gun show collectors circuit in the States and steal valuable guns from the tables next to them and got away with it for years.As with anything though their luck ran out and they got caught which meant besides the charges they faced they lost their gun dealer FFLs and were banned from attending any gun shows

Many of his books are the products of other authors who did a lot of research.
R. L. Wilson was a consultant/editor whose name gave credit to that research.
There is a lot of good information and wonderful illustrations in his books.
Where you need caution is in dealing on high dollar value firearms, where the value lies in his authentication.
He's not the first, and won't be the last fraudster in collector's firearms.
