I can't help but laugh at all the treads about with caliber is best for the 1911... 45acp, 40s&w, 9mm...

Come on guys, everybody knows that real men shoot 38 spl out of their 1911 :D
If you want to punch some clean holes on paper target, this IS the caliber for you.

Safe shooting,
Mike.

BTW, where's the holes in your target...:p

Nice lookin' Colt, though... ;)

He's gonna save face now and claim that those empty cases are actually flush seated wadcutters :D

How did you know, you got one too? ;)
38spl wadcutter is the only thing this 1911 will digest...

Dragoon,
That's a nice 38super you got there, wouldn't mind getting on of them... Don't have any commender lenght, don't have anything in that caliber either... Mmm-m-m, must be a sign! :D

Puke.

Maybe 38 Super because its a classic, but anything other than 45 in a 1911 its just wrong.

Like fat chicks in spandex. Yea, that's right, I said it.....:D :D :D

the 38 super that spaces on the shoulder is a real work of art- the old ones that spaced on the rim shot pie-plate sized groups at best- we had to replace the barrels with bar-sto to get anything like a half decent group- and the 45 made major easy and was easier to get mags and parts for-

One caveat, the M1911 was never designed to punch holes in paper targets, It was meant to punch holes in people, and it does that very well.;)
While that was it's original design and intent like many other weapons of war it was successfully adapted for more peaceful and entertaining purposes.

A 1911 in .45ACP, .38 Super, .38 Special uses good, American-designed cartidges as it should be.

But a 9mm 1911 is a heresy to all that is good about the 1911. Even John Browning thought so. That's why he designed the High Power. ;)
