My gun came with a mag loader and I was wondering if anyone really uses one? I haven't seen anyone use one and from what I have read they are supposed to make it easier to load the magazine? I have a .45 and don't find it difficult to load the mags? Is a mag loader maybe better for different calibres that may be harder to load? I can't think of a time that it was difficult to load a mag in any gun that I have shot? How exactly do you use a magazine loader?

TIA

Some double stack pistol mags are pretty tough to load with bare hands, especially when you have to load them to full capacity, and load many of them quickly (e.g. in an IPSC match). A mag loader will ease the pain a lot.

ive run into a couple of them, but not so much since the 10 round rule came into effect- with mine, you put mag loader over the top of the mag and pulled down- this depressed the follower enough that you could feed the round onto the follower, and shoved the round to the rear- then you put the loader onto the rear of the seated round and did the same thing- some mags also have a button on the side that accomplishes the same thing-woodsman and luger come to mind-

The Glock Mags, when you get to the 9th and 10th round can be a pain without the use of a loader.

I have no problem loading my double stack mags for my CZ75 or my Browning HiPower. I borrowed a Glock once and didn't bother taking the mag loader. What a mistake.

I've found them useful when loading brand new mags, when that spring is really tight and you're trying to get that 10th round in there.

Also useful when you're shooting IPSC and your day consists of several hundred rounds....eases the pain a bit.

For the most part though, I don't use them, I find it goes faster without them.

Ok so I have a revision. I just got a CZ85. It has 10 round magazines with the plastic extension at the bottom rather than the full length steel housing. The high capacity mags are blocked to 10 rounds but are designed for 13+ rounds. The designed as 10 round mags are harder to load than the high caps that are limited to 10. The loading tool is useful for the stock ten rounders that came with my CZ85.

I got a new Magazine Loader a few weeks ago. (It was backordered for more than a month.) It’s called the UpLULA (Universal Pistol Loader) from Maglula. I have used it with all my handgun magazines. Four different manufactures ranging from 9mm to .45 cal. It sure lives up to the hype! It was nominated for the 2007 Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Accessory of the year award. A great time saver and pain free!

I shoot a ton, and load a ####load of mags for students that I am teaching. I scoffed at people using mag loaders like the UPLULA. But I watched and learned and then bought one for a student recently. She's not getting it, I'm keeping it and she can get her own damnit! I can load mags pretty quick, but using the UPLULA I can load faster and with less strain on my hands. I never, ever, thought I'd use a loader, but I am sold.

I use a magloader for my .45 1911 (12 mags, 8rnds ea.) and my double stack 9mm (10 mags, 10 rnds ea.). Go through 500 rounds in a day and pretty soon it makes sense to save the effort.

I know Wolverine has it for sure that's where I got mine, and yeah I got it to see what the hype was at first (I used to have a Glock loader that was a plastic POS) and now IM hooked... its easier to load a mag with the loader and a lot less pain free.

And I laugh at the guys doing it 'old school' it might not be manly... but I can load 3 mags for each of their 1 and less time loading means more time shooting :p Just ease of use, why go the hard way when there's an easier way.

Good to hear that Slavex... if you can convert there's hope for the others :p

+1 and +2. These loaders are sweet. Grab up a hand full of rounds and drop them in about as fast as gravity will take them. I used the factory loader a little, and saw one of those lever ones in action (that you squeeze like a garden hose nozzle), but the UpLULA ROCKS.

I bought mine off of a fellow Nutz. Brownells carries them too.

I got mine off of Josko. +1 for him. He ships wicked quick and he's really easy to deal with! No complaints about his customer service what-soever! My hands are ache free after 500 rounds..lol
