Very different style. Woods hunting, I'd go for the BLR. If you go for the BLR, splurge for the takedown version, though I think that restricts you to the straight grip if you want SS.

Go with the Tikka. I've had 3 different BLR's, all in .308 Win. Wouldn't care to own another one.

BLR for the hunting purist that will see the rifle range only for pre season sight in.
If you desire to play around with handloads experiment etc a bolt action is very much preferable.
Cleaning and recoil friendly stock are huge pluses.

Just last week had a NF 1-8x24 mounted in low 30mm rings. The straight objective does not bump into rear site. About 1/4 inch clearance.

BLR is super cool, great rifle. So is the Tikka, you really couldn't have gone wrong with either of them. Browning support in Canada is good as well which is always nice.

You can put a scope on it without throwing the sights away. Personally I'm inclined to leave the sights on any gun that comes with them even though I put a scope on almost everything.

For that range you’d be more than fine with a leupold 1-4 of some sort. It will clear the irons as well. You can put leupold qrw’s n if you want to be able to access the irons. BLR’d lend themselves to low power scopes.

The last BLR I had had a trigger from hell. Got rid of it only for that reason. If I was to go BLR I would go with an older one where the trigger wasn't so lawyer friendly. I hope yours is OK.

Tikka my vote.
I was looking into getting a BLR, but the complexity of the lever mechanism(lots of small gears) had me steer clear. I have not heard (or looked) for any negative reviews about the complexity, but still I preferred a simpler action to maintain/clean.

And 7mm-08 I think is a great cartridge.
