Is it true that you cannot put any other Winchester barrel on an SXP Defender?

I have the Defender with the standard short barrel and wanted to get a longer one (26 or 28) to broaden the scope of uses for the gun.

If you find a barrel from the “Buck/Bird” or “Camp/Field” models, the barrels should fit if I remember correctly.

The Defender and above mentioned sets have a longer mag tube.

They finally got back to me - notice that they didn't exactly answer the question.

"We do sell what we call a 5 shot barrel.

611257391 26"

611257392 28'

They Retail for $139..99 they are matte blued and come with a modified choke.

You can either call our Customer Service department and place one on back order or go to Optics Planet website or Midwest Gunworks 636-475-7300 as it looks like we have shipped them some in the past."

That answers the question, but doesn't explain it very well at all.

SXP has two different lengths of magazine tubes. The 5 shot is what is on your defender and some other guns like the camp/field combo I have. Some of the hunting series SXP shotguns use a smaller magazine tube. You can get another barrel, but it has to be a "5 shot" barrel because the ones from the hunting guns won't fit.

The original question was "Is it true that you cannot put any other Winchester barrel on an SXP Defender?"

Another aspect to the question would be can you put Winchester SXP barrel in 12ga 28” with 3.5” chamber when my defender is 3" chamber?
