I meant that I would bury the sorrow of not getting an SKS by enjoying my 858. There is nothing wrong with the gun...I love it. In fact I've purchased 4 cases of surplus ammo just to feed it.

thats what i thought you meant....also you are a ammo hog.:p

You guys out West are lucky to have a choice of stores to buy from, around here we have pretty well sweet fook all.

head west young man.

I was in Del Selin's today and he still has about six SKS's left. There was one from factory 9696 that was; all milled, with a threaded barrel, and all matching numbers. The others were pinned barrels but I only saw one of them. They are $189.00.

He also has about 1 1/2 pallets of Czech 7.62x39mm for $169.00 a crate IIRC. The manufacuring dates I saw were from '68 to '71.

Nice little store with a helpful and friendly staff.

Baron Sports on Hymus Boulvevard in Pointe Claire, Quebec has them in stock.

Ok, went during my lunch today, they only have two, and the one i quickly looked at looks pretty nice, even has pretty nice wood, looked to be a threaded barrel and the numbers I saw on the bolt, receiver, cover and mag, match. Since the only SKS's I have seen and own are old milsurp ones, do the newer Norinco's come with a five shot mag??? It occured to me later in the day that when I peeked in the mag it was not pinned.
Rifle was covered in a heavy oil,not cosmo, and the matching numbers was nothing like the ones I have seen on the older SKS's so I guess these are new ones.

Recent Bell imports have the follower movement restricted by using a longer follower spring guide so it's out of sight. Much neater than than a rivet or the stud on the floor of the mag used by the Lever imports.

I noticed that at Del Selin's too. It looks nice and clean, and they don't butcher the magazine floorplate.

I have three Norinco's from Lever that have that damn pin, and only one of the mags has a serial number that matches the rifle.:(

What a way to destroy a rifle's collectability.

Sound like a new manufacture to me, isn't it?

I was pretty impressed by the one I saw, too. Nicer than mine for sure, but about $80 more.

If I I hadn't had a couple of M-14S's on the list, I might have bought it...

could somebody please post a pic of this new method of limiting the mag?

This batch is very good, much better than the 139 Lever batch.

Two of my friends purchased them after CanAm got the M43 ball.

Very accurate (in SKS world) - 25 yard touching holes and 1.5 inch at 50 yard - that's very good for iron sight carbin, I can garentee 2 MOA with scope (of course, please don't do that)

The finish is good too, I don't know why people say this batch has low quality wood, must seen too many English shotgun :)

Only problem is the longer follower spring guide, it has to be very accurate to be able to hold 5 rounds, and one of my friend's SKS can only hold 4 rounds. But yes, it looks much better.
