Show off your Browning Superposed

It has been on EE for some time and is still available. Its an incredible Superposed. In my opinion it exceeds the Midas grade.

Beautiful gun but I didn't realize it had been up for sale as long as it has. 7 pages of bumps. After this long (2 plus years) methinks the seller either needs to adjust his price or (better option) market it into the US. Much bigger overall market. Much better prices realized, many more potential Browning collectors. A waste of time for $1-3K guns but when you get into 5 figures, something to consider.

What's the consensus with storing these guns in their custom cases? Has that been done anytime in the history of the Superposed? Will they rust and/or pit like closed and open foam cases do?

I would never store any gun in any case. I’ve seen a brand new, used once Purdey in for total refinishing of every surface due to being left in a case. You are just asking for trouble.

I suspected as much as well. But I have to wonder what the storring solutions are for these over unders with multiple barrels and inserts. It looks so elegant all packed and they’re custom cases but it must be a nightmare to store in a safe.

Thanks for that, Bill.
My case could easily accommodate a 30" barrel set, inside dimension is 32" but the rounded corner would likely prevent a 32" barrel fitting.
It is in remarkable condition, though.

My recoil pad is an aftermarket one but I don't mind the look of it at all. LOP is 14" to middle of this Noshoc pad.

Good looking superposed. I see a round knob and therefore assume it is a pre '69 gun. I recall from another post that it is a 26" skeet gun?

I only have two Superposed

- This one is a 12 ga Lightning, mid 1960's, 28" barrels, skt/skt. original finish

- This next one is 1953, 30" barrels , F/M, original finish

Nice pair of Superposeds The older ones have the round knob and long tang (RNLT) that collectors prefer.

Thanks everyone for sharing the pics of your lovely superposed's.

Sharing some pics of my Browning....Funken engraved full custom 2 barrel set. one 30" inch and one 26" barrels, 3" chambers on both barrels.

Some nice guns, everybody!
Yes Bill, the one I recently got and posted above is a '61. RKLT. Chokes are skeet and skeet. Does that make it a "skeet model", or might it still be a field grade 1 with those chokes?

I'm sure it's a skeet gun but don't think it is marked as such. I recall that a skeet gun retailed at a modest price increase over the field grade.

The Superposed came with two receiver sizes in 12 gauge. The larger, deeper receiver was used on the 3 inch guns, and the skeet/ trap guns. I'm speculating about the trap gun, as I only have the other two models to compare.

I’m on the hunt for one of those magnum receiver Superposed. Was handling one a couple months ago and loved it. I think if I can nab one of those then that, along with my 20 ga Superposed, will mean I’m covered for O/U.

Skeet model Superposed were essentially hunting guns with skeet chokes, and could be had in Standard or Lightning weights, 26 1/2 or 28 inch barrels, according to Ned Schwing.

Sold mine and never had any pics. One was an early 70's Lightning Broadway Trap w/30" bbls choked F/IM, the other was a Limited Edition John Moses Special Broadway Trap w/30" bbls choked F/IM a fellow won in a draw in 1982 at a club in Germany when he was stationed there with RCAF. It was unfired when I bought it in 2003. Should never have sold either.

I'm looking at Ned Schwing's Superposed book and your Superposed looks like a grade V. Extremely nice gun especially being a 2 barrel set.

Do you have more info on the two receiver sizes? Every Broadway I've looked at has a 2 3/4 inch chamber and is a purpose built trap gun and although I have a couple of those I can measure, I don't have a field gun to compare to. Do you have any measurements?
