I was just wondering about the rarity of a scope I recently acquired. It is a Bushnell Scopechief Vl fixed power 6x40 AO in matte finish with heavy duplex reticle. I tried looking for info on it online but came up with nothing . seems like a very nice quality scope

I just retired a 1.5-4.5 scopechief from a hunting rifle it will be mounted on a .22. The scopechief were top quality back in the early 80’s.

There were a few around , not as popular as the 4x back then. The 1978 bushnell cat. lists the scopechief iv in 6x and the model vi came after that a couple of years I believe. Good scopes.

Those dials are what I expected. I had one of those scopes for many years. Coincidentally, just sold it last week. I believe it’s a model intended for silhouette shooting. Good quality. Scopechiefs were the predecessor to the Elite series. Yours is the only other one I’ve ever seen.

I've got a similar scope in 8x, AO, target turrets, matte finish. I didnt pay a lot of money for it, however, it has limited utility for me.
They are nice scopes. I would say they were uncommon rather than rare, likely due to the fact that not a lot were sold years ago.

The old Scopechiefs were pretty good scopes back in the day...Kowa made the originals, not sure on the later models. I've had the 4x and 8x Kowa scopechiefs and they are truly built like a tank and (8x) HEAVY. your 6x looks like it may be allot lighter in weight?
