22 long rifle speed loader

Maybe I'm confused, but wouldn't it take just as long to load the speed loader with 10 rounds as it would to load the revolver with those same ten rounds? I know for timed competition that the requisite number of speed loaders/mags have to be pre-loaded but with a .22, what would be the point? Not that there is anything wrong with it, it looks nice, just trying to understand the why?
 
I could see it being a handy way to carry extra ammo ready to go when you are out in the bush,
but since we can only shoot at a range I agree that these are almost useless in Canada.
