Shipping ammo with Canada Post

Hello CGN,

As far as I understood you aren't able to ship ammo with Canada Post, however I received an order of ammo recently from a site sponser who used to always use Canpar, but this case came through CP. I certainly don't want to name the company in case this was a mistake on their part, but I am mainly wondering if the "no ammo" policy of CP has changed (can't see any mention on their website)?

Hasn't changed. Perhaps CP delivered for Canpar? Or slipped through the cracks.

I've had a situation arise in the past where the courier actually dropped a package off at the local post office. In effect it was transported by the courier, but delivered by Canada Post. No real issue here, as the rules for Canada Post in regards to ammo are about them "shipping" dangerous goods. They didn't ship, just delivered.

CP has some kind of arrangement with the couriers to drop ship/ship deliveries for them ( i heard also that CP owns either one or all of Canpar/Purolator/UPS if i remember correctly.) Regardless the end result is they may handle some of the deliveries/pickups.

Couriers will often drop shipments at CP. Especially in smaller towns

CP doesn't Xray items shipped within Canada, that's all you need to know.

well the courier dropped the ammo at edmonton cp depot and never to be seen the ammo in the yukon so it depends where you live ...
