ATC for trapping

I was looking through the authorization to carry regs on the government website and saw this under wilderness ATC's:

(c) the individual is engaged in the occupation of trapping in a province and is licensed or authorized and trained as required by the laws of the province.

Has anybody here ever got an ATC for trapping? I've heard of people getting them for work before but not for trapping. The way things normally go in Canada I'm guessing they don't hand these out very easily.

Did a quick search but didn't see anything regarding trapping.

Trappers i knew in Ontario had ATCs.
 
I know of one trapper that has an ATC for dispatch of trapped animals as far as I know .22 is what he is allowed. They make the process to get an ATC as difficult as possible lots of people would get frustrated and give up.
Besides being a trapper or working in a remote wilderness area you fill out an easy check the box questionnaire, this just gets the process going,then they send you a written questionnaire 10+ of who,what,how,why,where,when. Then get the blessing of local conservation officer, then shoot the gun you intend to carry in front of a range officer to prove proficiency 80%, them submit all this paperwork to your CFO and wait on a response.
It is possible and people do obtain ATC but you have to be focused and determined.
 
It seems to me that the restrictions were tightened up to say ATCs were only available to trappers operating an RTL as a primary source of income. So if your idea is qualify for an ATC because you trap as a sideline business on weekends and holidays, you're probably out of luck. The Yukon might be a bit different since Yukoners actually purchase their trapline. I'd go ahead and apply though, you might the process educational.
 
In Alberta you can get one if you trap, it can be for dispatch or protection. No requirement for how much you trap. The application process is a pain but it is quite doable. For wilderness carry you will have to ask the CFO for an application, it’s not the one online, that’s more for security guards i think.
 
i knew of one trapper in south western ont. that had an authorization to carry on a trap line.not sure of the specifics but it was for dispatch of animals.he trapped part time, coons mostly.

Good rundown on the process, additionally there is aprox. 1 hour phone interview and you must reapply and re qualify every 1 or 2 years. A CFC registered firearms instructor or director of a club with restricted status can test you in the practical shooting.
