Extreme gun shooting center trimming station

I'm that it glad worked out for you !

Although I have witnessed first hand one of their Gear Box (knock off of a Remple Bipod) completely calf its guts in the middle of a match (on the first day its usage)..... but I must say that I am intrigued by this unit. For my match ammo I will never change from my 21st Century 3-way Trimmer (its slow but creates a perfectly square cut and is consistent in every dimension).

10 cases per minute is pretty awesome, and I might want one for my non match brass.... don't think my RCBS can get anywhere near that.
I am not familiar with this kind of unit though.

Do they have quick-change pilot/sleeves for cartridge changes ?
Would each cartridge be like setting up a die almost... get it how you want it, then tighten up a ring or something like that ?

No quick change, it would indeed be like setting up a die as you said. The shell holders are threaded 7/8-14 too, just like regular dies.

The other thing that would need adjusting is the cutting blade, but that's not too difficult either, just takes a bit of trial and error (read: a few scrap cases) to get it set just right.

Cool thanks... but do you need to tinker with the blade for every cartridge setup or just a one-time for life of machine ?

Heck I keep all kinds of sacrificial scrap cases (read: range pickup) for "rough-in" calibration of trimmers, dies and my homemade induction annealer anyways.

Yup, you'd have to tinker with the blade to adjust it to the case that you're trimming.

It may be possible to buy a separate cutter head and blade as a single unit, set it once, then swap that out as needed -- at least this is possible with the official Giraud trimmer, not sure if cutter head + blade assemblies are available from Xtreme, but if I had to guess, you could probably ask for them.

Or, you could just buy a second unit like Marty and keep it dedicated to one case :D.

At $525 a unit ... I would much rather try acheive this ^^ than do buy another machine.... I'd have to sell alot of stuff off my reloading bench and safe (maybe a kidney as well) to run 2 machines. LMAO

I only reload for 223 and 308.
My RCBS Trimmer has a 3 way head and is dedicated for the 223 (which I shoot 2 to 3 as much as the 308).
I got a 21st Century Lathe for the 308 which is slow but IMO is perfect (as it rotates the case onto the blades).

The way I see it. You just need to adjust blade location when changing calibers. You can leave the blade set for ie: 300WM 308,3006 it's the shell holder for each caliber. You lock that ring once you have your desired length. ( height) Then you just swap shell holders to trim other brass of same bullet diameter.

When changing calibers ( diameter of neck of the brass ) the blade needs to be adjusted to new brass diameter.

I could never write an instruction manual. LOL hope this made sense

I probably should have watched review videos on the Giraud.
Just watched this one from F Class john.... makes total sense what you're saying.

I don’t know why it couldn’t be used on my match brass.
It does trim constantly to same length, and chamfers/deburrs.

Adjusting the blade can be a frustration, as when I want it to work I want it now.
I do respect the position of someone wanting to save, let’s go back 10 years if I had just one like this I’d be happy, as I had plenty of time.

Now 10 years later, I lack time but have more spending budget to speed things up.

Xtreme shooting center just replied to my request.
They said to inverse the wiring so that the motor would spin in the right direction to cut properly.
I guess inverting the blade accomplished the same result.

well, if you do end up buying more, then its knowledge that yields results.

damn I like the thought of this machine... BUT just got a call from friend 5 minutes ago who is putting in an large component order for the upcoming season and I might piggie off his order... he has a lead on an 8 pounder of Varget (bigfoot riding a unicorn) and this guy might have the Sierra's I use. If he has that an my primers, them there goes a chunk of my upcoming tax refund....

Components before luxury always.
2019/2020 I wanted to upgrade my reload tools, but got into big component restocks instead.

Components come and go, expensive tools are always in stock.

The Xtreme Gun trimmer rotates clockwise, while the Giraud rotates counter clockwise, so you'll need to flip the blade such that the flat face is opposite of the set screw as shown in Rookie{OMC}'s photo.

I'm not sure why it wasn't assembled that way to begin with.

because they just copy things, kind-of they don’t ever know it works

and yes the bipod is crap

just goes to show that they don’t even know how they put it together

Word !
Just secured 8 lbs of Varget @ $360.14 delivered to my door.
The 13 lbs I already have on the shelf is probably enough to get me through the upcoming season ... but at that price in this uncertain environment, any tool upgrade will have to wait for now

Exactly, before getting into tooling upgrades, I had 17 lbs of Varget and 25 lbs of H4350 left.
I think I can manage until next restock!
One of my 8lbs varget jug shows 295$ on it, 2018, the good old days!

Jefferson, I would of seriously preffered a Giraud.
They don't ship to Canada, and recuperating at a border is a non-option with my crazy weeks going on.
Down the road, I wouldn't mind replacing my xtreme units for the real deal, for now I got the second best thing around.
And am happy that they ripped off the design, cause I couldn't own it if they didn't.

This thread made me panic so I reached out to Doug and asked about shipping to us up here. He said he has paused international shipping due to the mail system being such a gong show right now. Apparently alot of items being sent international have gone missing. He hopes to resume when things calm down a bit. Hope this helps anyone considering the original trimmer from him. I just need more caliber pilots.

I actually enjoy this idea...
Brand one trimmer 30 cal, and have 308, 30-06 and 300WM pilots near by as an example...
Brand the other 6.5mm, and have 6.5x47L, 6.5 CM, 260 remington pilots near by...
If ever competitions start again and start getting serious brand the other 6.0mm....

That's what I did. I keep the case holder and cutter for each cartridge in the die box.

Once he starts shipping North, I will heavily consider switching my knock-offs for 2x Girauds.
As long as he can keep it under 1500$ all in for 2x units.
