So the CCI line will now market this ammunition as "Stangers . . . as it kinda has a southern drawl to it".

They can call them what they want but they won't see the inside of any of my rimfires.

"Ditto" , they won't even chamber in a match CZ 457 MTR , wth geat difficulty
in a Lithgow 101 and they are not allowed in the same room as the Coopers.

I don't have anything that can/will shoot them ........

Stingers were shyte in any rifle I have tried them in... I get way better results with Mini-Mags when I need HV stuff... but I mostly use standard velocity and sub-sonic ammo.

I actually chronied the stingers in my 22 rifles. they didn't go as fast as the label said.

It's not the speed it is the lenght of the shell and the copper plated bullet
that may Wreak Havoc with Match Chambers.
CCI Recommends them to be used in standard ANSI Barrels & Chambers ONLY.

I like em but not standard case length, or at least on one extreme end. Find they hit hard and cycle consistently.
Downside can't use in certain "match grade" rifles, read your manual.
Think bullseye still has swamp dude branded CCIs.

CCI Stingers can be expected to have a wide velocity spread. The ES in a box of the ammo can be 100 fps.

MV will be different from one rifle to the next. That's true for all .22LR ammo. And the MV printed on the box is like a stop sign in some parts of the country -- merely a suggestion. To be serious, a printed MV on any box of .22 ammo should be the average MV the manufacturer observed in test barrels.

MV will vary by ammo variety in general but in a particular rifle it will vary by factors including length and bore condition. More specifically bore diameter can vary between barrels but also within a barrel. For example there may be some parts of the bore that are variously tighter or looser. The condition of the interior of the bore -- its roughness or smoothness, for example -- also influences the MV of the bullets going through it.

If anyone is curious, the Stinger (or Stanger if you want to affect a drawl) is a lousy round for accuracy. One reason is the relatively high ES of the ammo. Another is the very low BC (.085) of the bullet causes it to slow down relatively quickly, from a nominal 1640 fps at the muzzle to about 1070 fps at 100 yards. The bullet itself drifts more in the wind than either the 40 or 36 grain Mini-Mag ammos, which themselves drift more than standard velocity rounds. For each 1 mph crosswind, the Stinger drifts close to .9" at 100 yards.

CCI Marketing efforts.

MiniMags got branded with “choot em” for the swamp people.

Stingers got branded “Stangers” for 22Plinkster

Their 1800fps lead free rounds came out under the Meateater banner, then meateater took over the minimag line.
