Tenda is offering a near new M1951 or a police trade in M92S for $429.

I have had both in the past, but they got sold.

I regret the M1951 sale. It shot well for me.

I think the M1951 is a single stack mag, so the grips are probably a bit thinner and more comfortable.

I have big hands, but the M92 felt a bit big.

Any insight into buying one or the other?

I have a handful of M92 mags. Don't know where I would find 1951 mags.

Just realized that the police model is a heel release and my M92 mags won't fit.

... .

Hate when that happens. :mad::(:confused:

You know how much you liked each when you had them. I think if one is less common than the other, that's the one to get first.

The 1951's are supposed to be new old stock Italian police.i got one from corwin arms, it is new, same box as tenda's, mine is a 1988 most don't have date on them. They are awesome. I am trying to convince my wife to get one from tenda, Corwin is out of stock. With the free shipping that is a great price. Just look at what the good-very good used are going for in the U.S.

It isn't too hard to drill and file out a hole in the magazine to make it work. There are even vids on youtube of guys doing that to newer mags.

My 92 mags are US military. No heel cut. But I did add another cut so they would fit a different make of pistol - the Diamond Back, I think.

I could make a heel cut if I buy the 92S. Or buy more $15 mags.

But I am leaning towards the 1951.
After getting the 51 and seeing the craftsmanship, I am thinking about the 92s also!

If I had to choose,I'd go with the 92S...I have both pistols and like 'em both for the same reasons.Mags can be hard to find for the 1951,but if some are coming that's good too.The locking blocks are known to fracture on the 1951,but who knows if you'd shoot one enough to break one...

I also have a 92S and am thinking of adding a 1951 to the fold. I was hoping to handle one before purchasing to ensure the ergonomics work for me. Unfortunately, the lockdown makes that impossible.
How do you find the single stack “feels” in comparison to the 92S?
Is it equally comfortable and portable?
Would you compare it more to another gun like the 1911?

I used to have a 1951 and a 92, at the same time.

I have larger than average hands and found the 92 a little big in the hand. The 1951 was very nice.

The 1951 shot to POA for me, right out of the box. This is important for a pistol that has a machined in place front sight.

My 92 was not accurate for me. This is why I sold it.

Information is sporadic on the net, at least with my level of googlefoo, there is supposed to be a newer/replacement block, the one I have looks like a mix of both, but then again all I have read say they stopped making the 1951 around 1979-1980,,, mine says 1988!?! So not sure about this pistol except she is a beauty and fits my hand very well, I will keep digging to find out more relevant background info. I am sure there are Beretta collectors here who know lots!

Steel. Aluminum was short-lived and taken out of service. An aluminum one would be quite the collector's item.

I bought 3 spare mags for $35USD each on an American web site. They will not mail to canada.
