Just got our shipment back from bluing. These barrels have changed a bit with the deletion of the front sight. We did this for a few reasons. The first is customer requests. The are just easier to get into and out of a scabbard and do not snag on anything. Other factors such as ease of manufacturing means we don't have to raise prices and the fact that , um, it's a 12.5" (or 14") shotgun barrel, what are you aiming at ? lol.

Some of you know how long you've waited for these so here they are. Done and ready to go :

Oh, and a heads up, there will be some 6.5" Serbu clones, 8.5" Original Shorty shotguns and some 10" Tacticals all coming by next week.

Are front sights still an option for folks that want them?

Not from us, no. The barrels are finished and blued so soldering on a new sight would mean refinishing etc. and the price would rise dramatically for it. Any local gunsmith or machinist can install a bead for you should you choose or go full metal jacket and get a set of Trijicon Ghost Ring sights.

Black oxide is a type of bluing. Not sure if that helps you or not.

billardd81 is correcto-mundo, 'Bluing' as it is called in the gun world is what the rest of industry refers to as hot black oxide. It essentially oxidizes the top layer of carbon steel to for a protective 'crust' over the metal that helps prevent further oxidation. Parkerizing is a totally different process.
