Hi folks, I have reloaded pistol ammo for years. I am just starting to load some benchrest loads.
About 6 years ago I came across a going out of business sale. Price of gun powder was too good to pass up, so without any knowledge of what the powder was generally used for, I bought it.
The powder is as follows: IMR4350, H4831SC, Longshot.
Any help to just basically narrow it down would be good. I guess I could use it for fireforming used range brass??
What I am currently setting up to load is .308, .223, .303, .270.
Thanks for any input.

What cartridges?
IMR4350 is perfect for 30-06 and 165gn bullets. It is too slow for 308win loads and it will not give optimal velocities. It can also be used on 270 but it will be not as good as H4831SC.
H4831SC is perfect for 270 and 130gn
I have also used Longshot on some of my 12 steel loads, but then switched to steel as the hulls and wad I had were calling for this recipe.

Longshot can be used in pretty much any handgun cartridge. It provides top or near top velocity in 9mm through to .45 ACP. It's also one of my favorite powders. The 4350 could be of some use but the 4831 isn't showing much for your cartridges.

4350 is excellent for 308 and 303 with 180 gr bullets.

4831 is excellent for 270.

Longshot would be good if you shot some lead cast bullets.

For 223 you need a medium powder like 4895, RL15, varget, 748, BLC2.

my hunting load is a 260 rem.
Tikka T3 rifle

CCI # 200 primers
IMR 4350 powder 42.5 grains
FC cases
Barnes 120 Grain TTSX

3 bullets in a cloverleaf at 100m

4350 was my go to .270 Win powder for many years as it out performed 4831 for for accuracy in my rifle and the velocity difference was negligible according to my chronograph.

Again, which cartridges? Longshot is a slower shotshell powder that works well in some higher pressure handgun rounds, like .40 S&W.
I didn’t buy the above mentioned powders for pistol, I use win 231 for my pistol (which may not be the ultimate powder for my 9mm 158’s which seems to work nicely)... as I said, I got the stuff on the ultimate cheap figuring I could use it in the future. I don’t have a load in mind for the above calibers, just do not want to cause any major issues.
I may as well burn (use) it up, but want to do it within reason or maybe trade it off for something else.
