Skinner optics

I was just browsing the Skinner website and saw that they offer optics, look like everything I wanted for years and at a really good price... only 5 years warranty though and not for export!! So my question is if I get a US friend of mine to buy one and ship it to me is it illegal to ship rifle scope across the boarder?

I would say no! But if such a permit is cheap maybe if not probably not worthy!!
